Walmart surveillance ramps up

Out of convenience, I frequently shop at one of those little Walmart neighborhood market stores. Not crowded, decent prices, easy in and out. But today I learned the WM policy is to distrust their customers. I was in self-checkout, bringing my $20 worth of random stuff in for a landing. I hadn’t brought a basket, so I bagged my things and bent over to set one of the bags on the floor. BIG MISTAKE! The checkout process ended, telling me a clerk would be required to complete purchases. I had no idea why. But when the clerk came, I asked and he told me the little camera in the register had noticed I’d made a suspicious movement (bent down to set one of the bags on the ground). He was embarrassed. I was too. I told him to tell whoever that WM has an unhappy customer, that I was sick of surveillance. And was ticked off that WM would assume any customer not standing stone still during checkout was a likely thief.

I know, dear diary and all. But I don’t need this. There are six other supermarkets 5-10 minutes from my front door. I can take my business elsewhere.
