Did you not notice the $2.5 million to recoup the med bills?
Where did you see this? Compensatory includes pain and suffering, past lost wages, future loss of earning capacity, past meds and future meds. If he was married there may have been a loss of consortium award to his wife as well.

Not every veteran did a good job for their country. Remember, mlk said character of content, not uniform worn should be what is judged.

“Pain and suffering" is such bullshite most of the time. And it isn't worth $8M. Wal mart should've been responsible for medical expenses, legal fees and maybe a little extra on the side. Give me a break
With all the medical racketeering these days i’d say that medical expenses + “a little extra on the side” probably comes to 8M

I once saw someone slip on water at Walmart. They did not hit the ground hard and immediately got up and started walking. They then realized where they were and laid on the floor in "pain" until a Walmart manager came.
Walmart asked me to make a written statement. I'm pretty sure she got a $50 gift card and sent on he way

My mother has been suffering through hip surgeries for almost 15 years. Breaking one is no joke.

These fricking asinine amounts of money they keep giving people is stupid.
This guy shouldn't get more an 200-300K, at the most.

On the face of it, it does seem pretty absurd, but I have to think that there are some details that make this seem a little more understandable.
Yep, if a forklift operated by a Wal-mart employee hit the guy and broke his hip, I could understand this kind of award by the jury. As described, it's a classic case of why tort reform is desperately needed.

Why would the forklift situation warrant this type of verdict?
Posted on 11/10/17 at 6:05 pm to GurleyGirl
I've never seen a forklift at Wal Mart.
