I'm more focused on speed than price or anything else. I want to walk in with my kids script and walk out with medicine in <10 minutes.

It's going to be a war between cvs and Walgreens on who can price their drugsthe highest, maybe even with a pinch of collusion thrown in.

Their cash prices for drugs are usually 4-5 x what Walmart and a lot of independents, which I consider outrageous. In a lot of ways praying on the poor and those not keen to their ways

There are several Rite Aids in Baton Rouge, usually across the street from a Walgreens and/or a CVS.

Almost always across the street from the other store.

We had Eckerd for years but that same store turned into a Rite Aid. Then a few years ago Walgreen's built right across the street from it. Rite Aid's prescription service sucked, so we switched to Walgreen's.

Together they'll create the ultimate, baffling four-page touch pad our elders can check out with this Christmas.

On Foster and Government there's a CVS and Rite-Aid and Walgreens opposite of each other.

Total bummer. There was a period of time where Walgreens wasn't on my prescription plan, so we moved everything to Rite Aid. We were blown away with how fast our prescriptions got filled and the lack of bums and other sketchy sorts.

I'll hate to see them become another cluster frick Walgreens, with even less competition.

I will say, though I'm bummed, I'm not shocked. I've never seen the Rite Aid I use with more than a couple of customers in there at any point.

Whereas the Walgreens is always packed at all hours. They must be doing something right, even though they overall suck sweaty nuts.

but this is pretty big, didn't Walgreen's stop selling tobacco products?

Rite Aid bought out local Chain K&B years ago, there are quite a few in the NOLA area.

What about Eckerds?

Eckerd's was bought by CVS years ago.
(or all the local ones became CVS years ago)

Follow the Money. CVS bought out most popular local pharmacies and also now owns Target Pharmacies. Walgreens now owns RiteAid and is now The Global Pharmacy. You do the research, but Walgreens = CVS. Walgreens and CVS have a " way $ out policy " for local small pharmacies who would like to sell out for a rather impressive profit, resulting in Socialized Pharmacies. I was surprised that my local pharmacy was owned by CVS but still ran under original Name. Don't believe me. Ask your local small store Pharmacist or do the homework yourself. Regards
