Anyone have any experience with Walden Subdivision? Lots of houses for sale in there.

I have a friend that lives in Walden, and if other houses are like that one, then they will likely need a good bit of interior renovation to not look like the early 90's vomited in them.

ETA: quiet neighborhood with nice green space though

People who originally bought in there were often looking for a nice house after the kids grew up, hence the smaller lots. It's been 30 years, so a lot of those folks are moving on to assisted living.

That whole area Magnolia Wood, Walden, Kenilworth is a great area to live. Like someone mentioned you will probably have to renovate but as far as location

There are some houses for $450K that will sit on the market for a few months. I wouldn't spend over 450 K in that area

Walden certainly lost its luster 15 plus years ago. Like most older neighborhoods in Baton Rouge, they're simply undesirable.

My parents have lived in Walden for the last 20 yrs. It's a great place to live. There are great amenities like the pool, club house, and tennis courts. Most of the houses would definitely need to be updated, but for the price per sq/ft they are going for it could be a good deal if you get the right house. There are not many kids in the neighborhood, so if you are looking for a place you're young kids will have a lot of friends, it might not be the best spot.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I was driving by these earlier...we haven't seen a single person use them in 3+ years of living in the area. They actually don't look usuable at the moment, at least need some work (lots of weeds and such). Anyone know what the deal is with these specific tennis courts?

Not sure about the courts but the neighborhood is in the process of fixing the retaining walls and bulkheads where the pond dumps into the creek right behind the courts.

How is kennilworth as a whole doing? People on here talk about how Shenandoah is trending downward and was wondering how people are feeling about this part of town?

Kenilworth trending up. Lots of renovation of the older homes with younger families replacing older generations.

I like that neighborhood a lot. Some great scenery with all the lakes and trees, and it has hills in the neighborhood which is different from the rest of flat Baton Rouge. The houses are older though

God damn you're a tard sometimes.

Walden is a great location and has a quaint 'neighborly' feel to it. It's upscale for sure.
Way too expensive for my poor arse. But I've delivered pizzas in there over 20 yrs(stood in many doorways) and have several friends who made better life decisions than me and live there. Do it.
