re: Waitress stiffed on $735 takeout order, then fired for calling out customer on FB

Having bartended, waited tables and then managed restaurants in college, takeout orders are nowhere near the work of serving in house. I never expected tips on take out orders but did get tipped on some and not on others.
I definitely would have fired her or any other employees calling out anyone on social media. Something tells me she sucked at her job anyway.

One thing that you don't frick with in this world is a church...they have gotten away with every crime imaginable all through history and the general public just looks away and keeps on tithing...
hopefully, this server has learned a lesson on how to handle things...

$700 is a freaking huge order. Pretty shitty for a church not to give a tip

What was the service provided that deserved a tip?
Send that bitch back to SeaWorld.

I mean, I would have been pissed off if that happened to me...but yeah....anyone with common sense knows that mouthing off on social media about job stuff is a dumb move that can never lead to anything good.

They couldn't throw her a 5 spot for putting together a fricking $750 order.
I don't care if you're religious or not, that's just shitty, lowlife stuff.

Christ Fellowship Church placed a $735 takeout order and sent someone to pick it up. They did not leave a gratuity for the order.
Not very Christ-like.

We did not call the restaurant to have her fired; we wanted to get the situation resolved,” said David Lonsberry, an executive director of business for Christ Fellowship, in an interview with the Post.
So hopefully the next interview will be about how the church raised money and donated goods to the unemployed person while they found them a new job.

she was told that the church had been given a full refund
WTF?! The approving manager should have been written up, not the employee fired. Anyway, isn't that what YELP is all about?

I'd be pissed too. The church is a tax free organization who receive cash handouts every day to operate. Can't even leave a tip? Bunch of cheep asses.

I wonder if those 20 minutes were worth losing her job over?
How much could she have been making preparing $735 orders without tips. Not very much.

No one took your order? No one wrang it up? No one put it all together? No one checked you out?
That level of service is given when you go to the drug store. The thought that you are considering taking the order, charging me for it, and putting it together as an extra service of purchasing something is kind of funny.

The people at the drug store get paid much, much more per hour than a waitress.

So religious nutjobs are not only cheap as frick, they are whiney bitches who get people fired too. Just like Jesus would want.

What kind of restaurant did you manage in college? Most restaurant managers work 50-70 hours a week. That is a lot to juggle.

I disagree that you tip for takeout. Do you tip at McDonald's? Pretty much the same method. Where I struggle is Sonic.....do you tip the car hop? (Someone needs to make an official manual as to all of this...)

I always tip at Sonic. Don't have a specific reason as to why but it always seems to make them very happy and that's reason enough for me, I guess.
Don't tip at drive thru and typically always tip 5-10% on take-out.
The one that always gives me pause is buffet-type places. What is the tipping protocol when you are getting up and getting your food? What's the rate for refilling a glass of water and clearing a dirty plate?

No Baw, It's not a myth. Ask a few servers about overbearing, rude customers, and what happens to their food. It will politen you right up.
ONCE in 10 years and 1000's of shifts did I see food get messed with. And they grabbed her arse as she passed by.
Generally, nobody is messing with your food for being a dick.

What people fail to understand is that people in the service e industry generally make shite hourly wages(varies by state)because they are expected to make tips.
Comparing going to McDonald's, the drug store, or a hospital to see a nurse is illogical because none of those people make tips.
The real problem is, the service industry is the only one where the public is is supposed to subsidize shitty wages. Why is the public supposed to pay the wages the restaurants should be paying?
That being said going to a restaurant for dine in or take out and not tipping is trashy. Like I said before, don't order take out if you can't afford to tip the waiter a few bucks.
