re: Waiting on Bar Results Check-In

I lost all faith in our legal institutions, our higher education system, and the bar exam in particular when I realized that not only did they award me a bachelors degree and a law degree, but that I was considered minimally competent enough to practice law. God help us all.

This is the best reply to anything I've seen in months.

I hope you all fail. The world does not need you.

I totally stole it, though. I can't take credit for it. It made me laugh my arse off and it fit here.

In Georgia, Prosecution and Defense Investigators often start out higher than respected attorneys. State attorneys can make a name for themselves quick by volume of cases and assistance from their investigators. Private attorneys may make more but after paying insurance, investigator fees, and living off bread crumbs of firms, their pay is significantly lower.

If 2.3 million people are in american prisons that must show you that lawyers are not as good as they think they are.

Do people still save spots outside the supreme court building waiting for the results to be posted on a wall?

Good luck. Practiced for ten years before finding my niche and moving to the financial world.

The average law graduate probably won't be making $65,000. That's something you would get at a mid-size firm (obviously more at bigger places like A&R and Jones Walker). The majority of people passing the bar aren't going to be walking in to places like that.
ADA's aren't going to be making $80,000+ only three years in, either. I honestly don't even know if they could reach that level if not in an upper management position.
Going to guess, 'no,' because they can just look at the results online.

Here is a link from last year for the salaries of the DAs over here

A bit higher than I thought but would need to know more about the tenure of the people making $80k+ The people making $100k+ are upper-tier assistants/administrative. I'm really surprised the DA makes the equivalent of $200k, especially when judges only make $150k.

those are admin after my quick review

the ones making 75k-85k are either in felony divisions or helping with specialized divisions
the ones making 55-65 are typically the misdemeanor ADAs
just as a general comment. some of the salaries don't fit those 3 rules

judicial salaries are set by statute. the DA has all sorts of revenue streams (LACE, Pretrial, etc.) to alter his/her salary

I’ve heard that your parish DA’s office pays much much better than the average office, and close to the top in the state (if not the top). So idk if that is the best example because it seems like the outlier, but if I was a recent grad and wanted to do that kind of work, I would apply there for sure. I think the only downside would be living having to live in LC, but that’s not so bad with how much the city has improved in the last few years and seems to be on an upward trajectory.

that's a nice way of saying it's the only area in the state improving while the rest implodes

Didn't realize Lawyer starting salaries were so low. I'm making more two years post college with a civil engineering degree.
