My neice that lives in Manhattan is pharma rep. She sent me a link to some vitamins on Amazon that she wants us to take.

I'll probably knuckle under and buy them.

Vit D deficiency appears to play a role in the formation of blood clots. A lot of COVID patients with poor outcome have significant blood clotting throughout the body. I have a buddy researching this now. Take a Vit D supplement, but don't pound the whole bottle. Vit D toxicity is a thing.

Obviously this means we need to stay inside forever, as well as making sure no one else dares to venture into the outdoors...

Unless they are millionaires in their back garden singing imagine to let us know how bad they have it.

how much zinc are you supplementing? My understanding is you can overdo zinc pretty easily. I have a brand new bottle of 50mg zinc, but I generally only start taking that once I feel a sore throat coming on (usually my first sign that I'm getting sick).
Mine is 35mg but that's two capsules and I only take one. I think the RDI is 11 or 12mg and the max dose is 40mg. I try to get most of mine from food sources but it isn't always easy so I take a little extra to be sure.

50 for two weeks, then 25 daily maintenance till this insanity is over. A good pill cutter is a bonus.

I'm trapped in an office 8+ hours a day. I've been taking 5000IU of Vit D for years.

You probably won't be the first man to "knuckle under" while dealing with her.

Gotcha. I mean, they sell 50mg so I assume it’s generally safe. But I don’t take it for prolonged periods. Only at the onset of symptoms and for the duration of the illness. I would assume that would be fine here, too, since people treated with zinc for COVID weren’t getting treated until they were in the hospital with significant symptoms. Am I wrong?

As you age, your body makes less and less Vit D and it's hard to get enough thru food. I take 2000 units a day and my level still isn't really high.

This was maybe 10 or so years ago. I was feeling bad all of the time. Tired, no energy. Was having joint pains. Went to the doctor and it turned out my vitamin D count was extremely low. I didn't take any vitamins at the time, but I was outside a good bit, but of course working it wasn't as much as I would have liked... Anyway, my doctor gave me a shot and told me to start taking a good bit of IUs (I forgot how much) and then told me to do it for about month then with a multi vitamin I could start taking what I take now.

She explained to me how if your body doesn't get enough VD it starts pulling it out of your bone marrow which is when people start experiencing problems. At first I thought it was bullshite.. As if there was no way simply taking some vitamins could get rid of the issues I was having. After two or so days I started gradually feeling better.

Well, obvious disclaimer: I'm not a DR, but the studies I've found are treating people with up to 200mg a day. I'm absolutely not recommending you do even close to that but it makes me think 35-50mg is reasonable (for a short time, at least).

NO ONE SAID TO STAY INSIDE WHY DOES THIS HAVE SO MANY UPVOTES. i'm so sick and tired of misinformation. Dont gather in large groups but please go outside and be active is what they said from day one

Except for the fact cities shut down fricking kids parks, state and local parks were shut down, beaches were shut down, boardwalks and running trails, trails in big cities around the lakes and rivers were shut down, etc. Where the frick are most people supposed to go outside? If you live in the country, sure that's great.

Oh and btw, fricking Destin shut down boat ramps for awhile. BOAT RAMPS.

So yeah, you are wrong.

The government said you can go outside on a bike ride or walk down your street. Everything else outdoors was shut down that they could shut down.

I only take 2000 IU a day, maybe I should up it. But I guess I’ll see what the doc says next time I get blood work.

Well, shite, I take 5000 a day. Now I'm wondering if I should lower it.
