As someone with a degree from McNeese, I can tell you McNeese wins nothing. McNeese is god damn terrible.

That's actually almost exactly how it works. Schools change names to reflect a change in their focus or sphere of influence. ULL serves much more than just Southwest Louisiana now. They also have double the enrollment of the other UL designated school and 8x the endowment. Why would they not be a prime candidate for the name? And how does that affect any other school in Louisiana in a meaningful way?
Someone finally gets it
Come to the MSB every now and then. There’s a thread about this issue every few weeks. Marketing 101.....

Brag all you want on the LSU brand but that comes from Sports my friend and not academics. If you are successful its not because of a piece of paper its because you applied yourself and made it a goal to be successful whether it be graduating college, completing military service etc.. There are brilliant people that didn't even attend college. To sit here and say i'm better than you because i went to mighty LSU is

I’ve never argued otherwise. I never said a college degree is required for success. Hell, my father has a high school diploma and has done more than well for himself. But that’s not the discussion. The debate is whether a ULL degree is equal or less than an LSU degree. I posit, with evidence, that it’s worth less than an LSU degree.

When i finished my military service. i came back to Louisiana to be closer to family and my family lived in lafayette. I wanted to go to college so i decided on ULL to be closer to family. I could have attended LSU but figured the ULL computer science dept was top notch so i stayed in lafayette because i didnt want to drive that stupid basin bridge daily. Does this make me an idiot ? I would gladly put my skills currently against any LSU grad. Does that person earn more money than me because he has an LSU degree versus my ULL degree. the answer is "NO". To here you tell it you would think it would. My point is that piece of paper is meaningless if you cant back it up. No matter where you got it from.

People are bragging about getting jobs because of where they went to school.

Literally nothing you said refuted my statement that LSU is a better university.
I’m glad ULL was good for you. Really, that’s fantastic. But your anecdotal story has nothing to do with the comparison of the two

The whole USL/ ULL debate remains very laughable to me. I went to USL from ‘68 to ‘72 and this discussion was raging even back then. Even though I graduated from USL, I have always been an LSU fan. I have never given a wit about what USL/ ULL was doing.
One of the things I remember most about my time there was how many professors would rail against LSU during class. I believe there was even a faculty march to Baton Rouge to protest at the capital.
For some reason, LSU resides in the heads of a lot of ULL folks. What I don’t understand is why LSU folks feel the least bit threatened by ULL.

Did you even read Chokula's posts?
The dude basically claimed he got the job because the company recognized the school he attended and not ULL. Then, when I challenged him on it, assuming the same thing you jist stated, he kept doubling and tripling down on it. He would not admit that it was due to anything else.
That's entirely different than claiming that the degree from LSU opens more doors, which I would agree with. But it doesn't guarantee you get the job.

Ok you win. i guess it all comes down to LSU being a better school because that what really matters in Life. If you didnt go there no doors will open for you and you will be stuck in Louisiana forever
Dude you are a real tool

LSU definitely opens more doors than ULL. Fortune 500 and 100 companies are there literally weekly recruiting from multiple colleges. In the college of Business we had recruiting events or people presenting in our classes monthly at minimum. Just from the guys in my fraternity there's guys that work at all Big 4 accounting firms, Goldman Sachs, Under Armour, and more. They got all of those jobs from on campus events. Same for College of Engineering. Exon, Chevron, Ga Pacific, etc. is always there.
I know for a fact that ULL doesn't have recruiting processes like that. Doesn't mean their students can't get the same job, but they are going to have a harder time doing it or getting that exposure even if it's just interview practice.

Again, when did I say going to ULL opened no doors? Jesus, it’s not that complicated. LSU is a decent school, and it’s better than ULL. Each has advantages and disadvantages, but on the whole LSU is leaps and bounds above ULL. That’s it. If you would like to provide data showing that ULL is a better instituition, I’m all ears.
And as for being a tool, then let me say this: if I am a tool, I’m one with multiple degrees from places better than ULL. If I could get a masters in Toololigy, I wouldn’t even waste the application fee to apply to the extremely robust doctoral tool program that ULL clearly boasts based on the Oakley-clad spawn of their undergraduate.
