My sister and BIL live in West Midtown off Chattahoochee Ave. They love it. It's a great neighborhood w/a very good food scene. They've lived in West Midtown for the last 7 years.

Summerhill has done a complete 180. Hell, they just opened a Publix there at the end of last summer. A block from Old Turner Field.
I was floored 2 months ago when I was in Summerhill....it is sooooooo much better. Still has some edginess to it but in another couple of years it is going to be what west Midtown is today.
Rumor has it that an investor group is buying up Vine City. Its already better than it has been in my 58 years....when I was a young man your could mess around and disappear in Vine City and no one would say a word other than you ought to have known better. It may be the next area to change dramatically. College Park best look out LOL....

My son moved from West Midtown to Buckhead 4 years ago and wishes he had never left....if I were 25 years old and single you could not run me out of West Midtown with a shitty mop! In my opinion West Midtown has the best nightlife in Atlanta....my wife and I bought a condo off Bolton Road in 1990 and sold it for a profit before we moved into it...if we'd been smart (we werent then or now LOL) we not only would not have sold that one but bought as many of them as we could get our names on the title.

NO and ATL couldn’t be anymore opposite.

Some live in NOLA proper, and some in LaPlace (anywhere nicer than that imo)

In this thread you have people not from Atlanta saying it’s terrible and people from Atlanta saying it’s great. The answer lies somewhere in between in that it’s pretty average just like most other large American cities.
Worth noting that this is a strongly LA message board with a heavier anti-Atlanta bias than most places.
As a native, I don't love it or hate it. It's home, better or worse. Traffic sucks, lots of thugs, plenty of rough areas, lots of libs, bad governance. It's also one of the prettiest (natural) cities, amazing tree canopy, has a river you can catch rainbow trout in, great running and tennis town, strong economic engine for the region, reasonably good weather compared to other big Southern cities, is proximate to nice mountainous areas and good beaches, etc.
By any lifestyle/family raising measure Atlanta absolutely dominates New Orleans. Atlanta's arguments get weaker when you bring in cities on the same general (ie, top 10-12) level like Dallas, or when you work in smaller, lifestyle cities like Charlotte, Nashville, etc.

I get you are biased but Atlanta is pretty boring and dangerous. NOLA is smaller and way more fun.

I agree with most of this.

But not this. Yes it does have proximity to some pretty areas but Atlanta itself isn’t anything spectacular in my opinion from a natural beauty standpoint.

I agree with family raising but saying Atlanta dominates in any lifestyle measure is very arguable. Very dependent on what your lifestyle is.

Pretty much any major town/city reeks of nasty weed these days.
At the risk of getting downvoted, weed is one of the most disgusting smells. yeah, let's smoke skunk and escape from reality. How edgy.

Watched the old The First 48 yesterday that revolved around this apartment complex on Delmar Lane. Went down the rabbit hole and read all about the place

I genuinely envy your low standards
If Atlanta is “spectacular” from a natural beauty standpoint, how would you describeSan Diego or San Francisco?

Being 1,100 ft.above sea level and 45 minutes from the mountains definitely helps.

Anyone who argues otherwise can't be taken seriously.

I would still take Atlanta here,. especially when you take COL into account. That and better weather.

This is fair.

I've never been to either so I can't judge against it.
There are definitely prettier cities than Atlanta and San Diego and San Francisco are definitely above Atlanta on that list, I would put my hometown of Pittsburgh above it also, but to think Atlanta is some bland, flat, featureless city is just ignorant.
