I was in this fricker as a passenger in 1988. No one killed. I had a run of bad luck during that time - aborted takeoffs, hailstorms, engine failures. I finally stop flying and did so for about ten years LOL

I've got a whole stack of pics from that in my desk taken from every conceivable angle, inside and outside, turns out that airplane was owned by 3-4 of our Captains and they got a pretty nice insurance check, most of it ended up being sold for making beer cans, I've flown that flight dozens of times if not more

Caught a lovely sunrise out of Atlanta yesterday morning.

Question for the OT pilots. At cruising altitude between two major cities, I often look down and spot other major cities directly below us. Really often it’s a city that’s not on a straight line between the departure and arrival cities. Why do we go “out of the way” to fly over other cities. I’m sure it’s not really that much added time, but when fuel is that expensive and I’m sure airlines track your flight times, is it because
A. Y’all want to see cool cities
B. Safety protocol to consistently stay over sizable airports
C. Something about Coriolis effect / wind making a “straight line” on the map less efficient
D. I’m imagining it
E. Something else I’m not thinking of

Question for the OT pilots.
Could be a few different things and it's dependent on the flight.
If you're talking long distances, like ATL to Japan, drawing a straight line on a flat map looks a lot different than flying the actual shortest distance across the earth. Last time I planned, it took us thru Minnesota & Alaska, which seems odd on a flat map.
If it's a shorter flight, could be airways (kinda like interstates in the sky) or a departure or arrival into a busy airport.
Also, weather along the route can alter the routing.
Guaranteed, it's the least costly way to get between to locations.

Are there any flat earth pilots? I would think not.

So when you bring the pilots their crew meal, they let you snap pics from the cockpit?
Great pics and Just bustin' your balls! My buddy flies to Amsterdam, South America and Asia and sends me pics all the time very similar to these. He's based out of Houston.

Some incredible ones! Thanks.
Hey flat Earthers, you will want to ignore some of these.

I don’t think I would have any memory available on my phone after about two flights.
