Biker squeezes between two cars at a stop light to get to the front. One person takes offense and calls him out at the next stop light. They exchange words, and biker hits the guys side mirror as he passes him. The other guy chases the the biker, trying to run him off the road.
Biker is an a-hole. He got called out for being an a-hole and hit the dude's mirror. Other dude is also an idiot and probably bigger a-hole for trying to basically kill this kid over nothing.

There actually is a valid reason for lane splitting, (which is legal in California BTW) namely because air cooled motorcycles cannot sit and idle in traffic like liquid cooled vehicles can. Simply put, if you are on a air cooled motorcycle and stuck in a traffic jam, especially on a hot day, you can andcwill do serious damage to your engine unless you get out of the traffic jam quickly.
There are also states that allow motorcycles to pass through red lights that won't change to green.

I agree it can be dangerous. It's not legal here in Alabama so if I find myself in a traffic jam I simply turn around and find another route. And if for some reason that's not an option, I have pulled over into a parking lot and waited it out.

Lane filtering is more efficient and is viewed as a benefit of riding in vehicles capable of doing it in the rest of the world.
Our American dipshit egos can't handle it though, so it's super dangerous here. I had a blast doing it legally in California. I did it illegally everywhere else too.
