You have nothing to hold you back, go for it. Regret is one of life's most painful things, it doesnt go away but gets stronger. If it's not for you, you can do something else.

I had a friend,tried college and didn’t do well.He never could get a job paying more than minimum wage.He moved to Houston,worked forOrkin and learned the pest control business.Then he opened his own pest control business and by the time he was 50 he was rich as shirt.Lives in a beautiful house,plays golf with George Strait.
There are lot of good jobs if one can work with their hands-front end alignment,electrician,sheet metal mechanic.I’ve met some self employed bricklayers that seemed to do very well.

Get certified to work on KTM motorcycles - underserved and hard to find mechanics for a huge brand on the west coast. New is beautiful, a move would do you good my man.

I made the move to Oregon a couple of years ago and love it out here. Not sure how I'd like Portland, though. It rains a lot on that side of the Cascades and it's going to be expensive living there.
If you have a friend that is willing to rent you a room at a decent rate, I would do it. The Pacific Northwest is amazing...especially if you like being outdoors.

You obviously don't know much about Oregon. I live in Bend and was just thinking today about how pretty much everyone that I've encountered here has been friendly , laid back, and generally seems to have a "live and let live" attitude, when it comes to other people.
As far as freedom goes, nothing feels "more free" than spending time outdoors when you're surrounded by national parks and BLM land.
He may have an an entirely different experience in Portland, but Oregon has it's share of Conservatives and "salt of the Earth" type of people. I've only been to Portland a few times but even that town was nothing like I was expecting it to be. I kept looking for "Antifa types" but never actually saw anyone that seemed to fit the profile. I'm sure that they're there, though. But they certainly don't run the city, or anything like that.

Ive probably spent more time in Bend than you have. I was born there and lived there until I graduated high school. My mom and dad still live there. Like you said...Bend is a lot different than Portland. It’s different than any other town of considerable size in Oregon like Salem and Eugene. It has succeeded in pricing out hippies and jobless sjw liberals. It’s not quite as easy going as it used to be, but it’s still a pretty great place.

Agreed.
I lived in the PacNW for nearly a decade and at the end I didn't want to see grey skies ever again.
But these days I find myself trying to convince my wife to go back there.
Except for the weather, I can't imagine anyone who would pick the south over the west coast if you are looking for opportunities.

Glad to know that you're from Bend. I feel like it's an entirely different state on this side of the Cascasdes. I spent most of my life in Chattanooga but I'm really happy that I moved out here. The scenery never gets old and most of the people that live here seem really nice.

I love the weather but I'm in the high desert. The one thing that I would give the South an advantage on is the food. Even the Mexican and Asian food sucks here.
As far as fast food goes, I feel like I traded Steak N Shake, Bojangles, Krystal, Waffle House, Captain D's, Long John Silvers, Fazoli's, and Zaxby's for a freaking Jack In The Box.
