Good to know.
Auxiliary battery?
Get the 392, you do not have to worry about that.

I doubt he wants an $85k jeep when he’s looking at gladiators

The only one of those remotely close to accurate is engine issues. The other three are not.

In 2024, several class action lawsuits were filed against Jeep, alleging issues with underhood fires, particularly in hybrid models. These lawsuits claim that Jeep models, including the Wrangler and Gladiator, are susceptible to fires due to defects in the power steering pump and high-voltage batteries, according to a press release from Hagens Berman. Some lawsuits also claim that the manufacturer failed to adequately inform consumers about these risks.

I drove one for 6 months (company paid rental on an assignment) in Idaho. I drove it all over the Rockies, off-road, etc.
I really enjoyed it.

You can get a used one in the $60-70 range and it will hold value better than Gladiator. Way more fun to drive, but I average about 12mpg and that sucks.

Oddly enough, the Gladiator is a better buy than the Tacoma right now. It will have Jeep issues (questionable accessories, uncomfortable highway ride, bouncy suspension, vague steering, water pumps, cooling, death wobble if you let the suspension wear out), but the Pentastar V6 powertrain and ZF transmission should be solid.
Consumer Reports just told everyone that wanted a Tacoma to buy a Ridgeline instead because the new turbo Toyota products suck. I would get a Frontier, Colorado, or Ranger before the Gladiator but there are clearly worse products now (Tacoma being it).

Good choice.
Unfortunately similar to the Gladiator in one important way: They aren’t very comfortable for people who put a lot of miles on their trucks. That’s one area where the new Tacoma is vastly improved.
The Ridgeline might be best in class from a ride and comfort perspective.

Stay far, far away from anything Stellantis.
Unless you like looking at your vehicle through your shop's window.
