Vegans and vegetarians

While I'm not close to being either, these two things are VERY different.

Vegetarians can still be somewhat normal. Vegan is just absurd. You can't eat eggs? Milk? Cheese?

What the frick is inhumane about a non-fertilized egg or a milk from a dairy cow?

And I think this is hilarious as a prank, but as an actual protest its just stupid.

Quit behaving like they do. Not everything needs a protest.

Yeah no reason to lower yourself to the same levels as the extremist on that side. Their actions create a lot of resentment towards their cause, why would you want to mimic that.

If you live in the South, you realize there are still a ton of intolerant religious simpletons around unfortunately.

Apparently, not all the simpletons are religious. If you are advanced enough to look at the link (and the thread title) you will see that this has nothing to do with the USA, much less the South.

Vegans are generally huge pussies but leave them alone at their place.

If they want to preach at a steakhouse, sure, throw your med-rare steak at their forehead but this wasn't necessary...

I can see the intellectual argument about those because if you have dairy cattle you're going to have some beef production as well (older milkers and the unwanted male calves). Similarly you can't have egg production without a lot chickens in captivity.

My bigger problem with these people is not their theoretical ethical superiority - it is that these choices (no meat or cruelty free eggs and milk) are expensive enough to be economic hardships for the poor.

If they want to compel more ethical treatment of animals I think that's great. But that compulsion should be accompanied by economic subsidization (of the poor they put at disadvantage). Subsidization that they alone would be responsible for. That won't be happening.
