Sounds eerily similar to what the popes were doing at the same time

Shouldn’t you recognize them by their fruit though???
And what fruit should you be recognized for? Just for future reference.

Francis is not perfect, just as no human is perfect. He is a sinner, just like you and me. The Roman Catholic Church has for 2 millennia been governed by varying degrees of imperfect, fallible, sinful men (popes and non-popes). And through all of that, God has preserved the Church and protected its doctrine from error. In 100 years, Francis’s odd proclivities will be mostly forgotten.
ETA: 2 millennia, sorry.

I grew up catholic. But giving a shite about the Pope is to me the equivalent to giving a shite about the Kardashians or the British royalty. frick all of those people. They don't know or care about me, and I certainly don't look to any of them, including the Pope for moral or spiritual guidance.

No Protestant pastors pedophiles right? None in any mega churches anywhere?none in Baptist churches? Or every single other denomination?

How many threads per day are we going to have on the Pope's health?

Ironically, that’s the only thing ever focused upon when it comes to the Catholic Church

They should ALL be exposed and prosecuted, by governments, churches, everyone.
The Catholic Church does not feel that way unfortunately

Not by the Church itself. Arguing otherwise is dishonest and a reason the problem still exists

Think I’ll just stick with my direct line to Jesus, he seems to be the “bedrock of the church/people”. Why people glorify this guy is beyond comprehension. Martin Luther saw this coming years ago.
Looks like you need to read Matthew 16:18

Why is this board so anti-Catholic?
The current Pope has been pretty anti-Cathloic.
He's been way more concerned with sucking up to the secular power brokers than promoting Christian beliefs.

Martin Luther was taken advantage of by absolute monarchs who wanted to increase their own power and influence by reducing the influence of the Church and the papacy over their kingdoms. Luther was a pawn in a much bigger game that ended up leading to a century of brutal warfare that killed off a large percentage of the population of central Europe.
So much so that he asked for forgiveness and reinstatement into The Church on his deathbed.
He was denied of course.

IMHO, this board is just a reflection of what our fellow non-Catholic Americans feel about Catholics and Catholicism. In real life, a non-Catholic won't say out loud what they really think inside. But, here on an anonymous message board, their true opinions are revealed.

it was a position used for corruption and power for hundreds of years and really had nothing to do with leading people to the Word of God.

So what parts of the Bible do we read literally and which parts do we not?
My personal opinion is I can disassociate my faith with modern day religion that clearly exists in many capacities as a way for grifters to make money and consolidate power. My relationship with my faith is mine, and I don’t really need a lot of help with that.
You of course are entitled to your opinion. However, I find most that are more tied to “traditional” religion are much less accepting of what I described above.
