Is this the same as the King Tiger?

There is a YouTube channel dedicated to tanks and they had a episode about some super Russian tank that was produced right after the war was over. Supposedly it would have been the biggest and most advanced tank of any of the WW2 nations.

I always love seeing your posts. Brings me back to when I was a kid and really into modeling. Used to do planes tanks and troops. Also did one or two dioramas to show them off. Wish I would’ve stayed with it.

One question is how do you do the texture on the tank? I used to mix powder in with the paint to add texture and also exhaust smoke from the engines on a plane. Just interested.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorta the same. It used a lengthened Königstiger hull with the same style suspension.

I don’t mix anything with my paint other than acrylic thinner. When I’m done painting it looks factory new. After that I add weathering effects using a tiny piece of sponge to dab on flat gray to to scuffs and chipped paint effects. Oftentimes I’ll follow this up by dabbing reddish brown paint and follow that with rust on the chipped areas, usually things like corners and areas that would normally get wear. I also use different shades of panel accent and washes to finish out the overall look.

One wonders how things would have gone if they concentrated on fewer, less complicated and less expensive types...

Russian model was but less great but built way more. I think they could make 8 T-34's for the cost of one Tiger. I think it was Kursk where this was most evidenced. One of the German generals commented on the Russian armor swarming like rats,.

No. It was a tank destroyer which had a different mission. As a classmate style AFV, it was more suited for defense whereas the Königstiger was designed for an offensive role. The Königstiger was slated to be replaced by the E-100 or Maus, neither of which got past the prototype stage.

Thanks. But I usually stick to 1/48 or 1/72 scale on aircraft. I’m not adding any more planes to my stash. I’ll build some, like the Italeri 1/72 scale C.R. 42 Falco I’ve started today. I may may sell others. I’m going to focus on WWII era vehicles

I only build 1/48 aircraft, but all my armor is 1/35. Those stencils are incredible - complete marking sets for the armor. I prefer painted markings when I can, and those stencils are incredible.

My son and I built this F-105D. Painting was done with an airbrush with the exception of the bombs. He picked the kit out - an old 1/72 Monogram kit. It now hangs in his room

IS-7, I see it never made it to full production.

In your opinion what was the best of the super big tanks, I know most never made the war so may be hard to answer.
