RIVERDALE, UT (KSTU/CNN) – Utah Police arrested a mother after they say she locked her two young children in the trunk of her car while she went shopping at Wal-Mart.
Several people helped the children, ages 2 and 5, escape from the locked trunk before their mother Tori Castillo, 39, returned from the store.

Heidi, who wanted to keep her last name anonymous, and her friend were unloading groceries Thursday evening when they heard noise coming from a car’s trunk. They quickly realized the noise was coming from a child.
"I started talking to the little girl that I could hear screaming. She was like, 'Mom, let me out. Let me out. Mom, help.’ She was screaming and crying,” Heidi said.
Heidi says she yelled back, guiding the girl to open the emergency latch from the inside.
When the trunk popped open, the women found not one but two children, scared and sweating from the heat.

While the women were waiting for police, Castillo emerged from the store.
"The only explanation she had was my babysitter didn't show up,” Heidi said.
Castillo was charged with four counts of child abuse involving physical injury and one charge of theft.

The children are now in safe hands.

Would you rather she left them in the hot sun in the backseat of the car? At least she put them in the shade.

How about she just get one of those things they call buggies, and put the kids in that and roll them around the store with her..

I'm glad the kids are safe and hopefully the DCS will take them away from that POS mother of theirs. Thank God for those people that helped the little kids before anything else could happen. That dumb, fat bitch deserves to die a horrible death for doing something that. How can someone be so inhumane?
Also, who the frick would help that thing reproduce? That's fricking sick.

I had someone call the cops on me when I ran into Rouses last week bc I left my dog in the car. Some irate woman is waiting on me and she is all over my arse. I said I just ran in for a second, but she wasn't having it and told me the cops were coming. I said OK, no problem. She asked if I could get my dog out and I said no, she is fine, the car is running with the AC on full blast.
I thought she was gonna shite. Cops showed up and laughed.

Agree. Who the hell locks up ANY child in a trunk, let alone a 2 year old baby??? I'd charge her with attempted homicide as any person knows that death would result from heat/suffocation.

Coming from someone whose had to bury a child they should give this bitch life without the possibility of parole .

I just realized that I would be incapable of doing this.
Thank God that the person who heard them was familiar with the inner workings of a car trunk.

So you also think there were only 2 options; locked up in the backseat or the trunk.

You sure as hell cant put them up front behind the wheel.
That would be dangerous.

I guess, but then you have to deal with getting them out and back in the car... And those buggies always have squeaky wheels. The whole thing would be a big headache.
