SCADA systems are inherently insecure and control some of the most critical shite. What's possible is very scary stuff

Florida would be fricked if a major cascading disruption happened on their system and took out their seams with Southern Company.
Not being more interconnected to the rest of the grid leaves them more vulnerable to longer term outages due to inability for restoration efforts under these conditions.

Think about it. Test defense in a strategic manner. Find the weakness. Exploit it.
Take down the power grid at the weak spot. Lights go out. Chaos. Tactically take out whatever you think is best. No national coms. No coordinated response. Citizens panic bc they don't know what's going on.
Most military bases and key political hubs have back up power , but if you want anarchy, terror and panick take out the ability for 250 million to get information and you will have it.

wow, that's a little unnerving for sure. Who knows though, there's probably so much shite that goes on everyday that we don't know about similar to this. If they were to succeed though, it would be an extremely chaotic time for sure. Would not want to live in a big city if the power grid went down.

I work with power system protection and controls
The communications specifically go over the lines themselves and has it's own network it's not like you can hack into it through the internet

Wrong, Entergy has ties between texas and louisiana

There is a small part of Texas that connects to the eastern interconnection via AC lines. This is within Entergy's territory and the Southwest Power Pool. The rest is isolated within ERCOT's system and only ties to the eastern interconnection via DC ties.
