It was an amazing lesson in social engineering. People who claim that there’s no way they can be manipulated were so easily ready to lock themselves and family up for months. And they still can’t admit it.

That’s not stagflation at all.

Stagflation is when inflation matches economic growth, resulting in no real gain.

Whoever told you this lied to you.

People will act like they never supported the destructive policy because they are embarrassed now, but a vast majority of this website was fully on the shutdown and stimulus check support train.

There was never any doubt it would play out this way.

The past 2 years consisted of some of the worst policy positions in the short history of the USA.

I say this all the time and believe it to be true. We only get the COVID lockdowns with Trump as president. The Republican governors (some of them anyway) reluctantly went along with the recommendation while the Democrat governors ran wild. If the same recommendation had been made by Hillary Clinton, there's NO WAY the Republican governors would have gone along with it.

It was the perfect storm like 9/11 was and we the people pay the price. But like you said, we need only to look in the mirror. Very few of us tried to stop it.

We never really closed our retail business, but very few people came in due to fear. We decided that we were going to start advertising we were open well before the lockdowns were over. Within 4hrs of us posting on social media we were open for in-store or curbside pickup, our police chief started getting phone calls from Karens. The social media attacks followed shortly thereafter. It was amazing/sad to watch my fellow citizens throw away their freedoms so casually.

ETA: Anyone got the link to the OG COVID thread? I'd like to scroll through it this week. I'm dying in this training class......

locking your family up because you are scared of an unknown disease is vastly different than a government mandated lockdown of your family

"pure bloods"

One of the dumbest, most dividing things I've heard on this board.

I’m down nearly 20% for the entirety of 2022. But I don’t really make rapid adjustments.

I don't know where it is, but everyone is right it's a giant shitshow. I never understood why people cheered on a complete lockdown of our country. There are so many things about covid that have flown in the face of conventional science and medicine, that I don't even know where to begin.

That’s not really true.

March 12 was when that basketball player tested positive. By the weekend, Democrat mayors and governors were falling over each other trying to shut down in the name of safety. And they were trying to out-safety each other by going for a week… two weeks… a month. It snowballed driven by the media and what was happening in Italy. Pretty much everyone in power was forced to “do something” out of perception and not reality. Trump never wanted to lockdown. He wasn’t even sure if he could order it. The first round of “stimulus” was a PR move.

Calling it a vaccine vs a shot like the flu shot still gets me no matter if you are pro shot or anti shot. Call things what they are.

my point was it doesn't matter what any individual did or choice they made. People can do any crazy thing they want.

What matters is the nation screwing declarations the government makes.

The fear mongering by the media in March/April 2020 was insane. They wanted lockdowns. They wanted to tear down the economy.

And I bought into some of it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Brandon administration nailed the hire for press secretary with KJP. She/they/them perfectly embodies and represents that administration and what it stands for. Total incompetence, bold-faced lying, and only put into the position due to minority and sexual identity status.

Peppermint Patty was at least good at lying.
