They’re like that about literally anything. Not just Austin.

I love living in the People’s Republic of Fayetteville! Surprised Shreveport didn’t make it.

It has finally become un-weird and we now know why all those people with bumper stickers were pushing against all this for so long.

If you like city life, Portland is pretty fricking awesome.

I know a lot of these lists put weight on bars and legalized weed.

But I'd prefer to live where I don't need booze and drugs to be happy.

LOL! No.

Most people who work in Seattle live elsewhere.

There's a lot of natural beauty, art, music, and theater in Portland.

You don't need booze or drugs to be happy there more than anywhere else. Probably less so. Its all subjective, and I get that. I will repeat, though: If you like city living, Portland is a good place to lay your head.

the amount of people who move there thinking it will be special, only to leave a few years later, then to be replaced by a new set of morons has to be at comical numbers right now

This is me. Took a promotion that moved me out to the Denver area. Worked in Broomfield and lived there and Thornton in my time there. It was a nice place to live but filled with Chicago and Cali transplants, which the majority seemed to be arse holes. Downtown Denver was a 15 min or so drive down the interstate but honestly found it pretty overrated. If I ever moved back to CO, Ft Collins would be the move with no hesitation. I really don’t see myself moving back there as the cost of living is on a ridiculous exponential climb. If I wanted a more mountainous scenery, I just a assume move to East Tennessee/West North Carolina.

And as someone who leans left on most issues, I get rustled when a city transitions to a majority liberal city council/mayor. I have yet to see a legit reason to let the homeless do as they please. Seattle is an awesome place, but you can't walk down Pine anymore without watching someone take a dump in public.

You didn’t spend much time in Colorado Springs did you? It’s a shithole with bad infrastructure. No way it should be high on any list.

Coincidentally CS is the closest the US has to a libertarian utopia.

Moderate cost of living, very good economy, excellent public schools, low crime, and very clean. Climate sucks and a whole lot of nothing nearby, but generally excellent quality of life

Seriously. All around, Des Moines isn’t bad at all. It’s hilarious to see all these folks that have never left Louisiana putting down a place that gets everything right.
