The captain of the US Fitzgerald is definitely gone. The embarrassment to the US Navy will be great with a freighter being able to get that close. Oh boy makes me feel safe.

True. The only way I'm sailing through the Straits of Hormuz is if I'm in the Navy.

can't argue that. We still mop the floor with the next 5 navies put together.

Only until they start investing in cargo ships to neutralize us entirely

How fricking embarrassing these pieces of shite wasted our money on this

The Maersk shipping fleet clearly is able to contest that now

OP needs to change the title, 100

Also,

Live footage shot from a helicopter Saturday morning by Japanese broadcaster NHK showed heavy damage to the mid-right side of the Navy ship, which appeared to be stationary in the water. People were standing on various parts of the deck.

Anyone got the video?

Our navy isn't what it was 10 years ago. Obama administration cut a ton of their money.

Well prayers to the sailors and families. I was joking earlier but now this is just messed up. Plenty of sailors dropped the ball. Watch standers and OOD/Captain will probably be going to a Admiral's mast.

I assume the Japanese cargo ship had one, but a quick search identifies the USS Fitzgerald as being commanded by CDR Robert Shu, so yeah.

2 Asian Captains, destined for a collision.
