Clancy obtained technical info and wrote about it that skirted the boundaries of prosecutable classified information. Some of what he wrote astonished the Navy at the time by its detailed and accurate descriptions.

Terrific author.

Certain life events mean we are going through a lot of cardboard these days. House work etc... it builds up! Especially when I am working on re-trimming the thresholds and quarter round in the kitchen I make a lot of sawdust.

This promises to make the submarine virtually undetectable, the holy grail of naval warfare.

Eh?

As I understood it, they were already there.

In fact, as opposition sonar grows in sophistication, they were actually considering/may have added noisemakers to the subs.

They were finding out that our best subs were becoming detectable in short ranges not through noise generation, but rather because there was an auditory void of ambient ocean noise.

Amazing that he never served and solely got his info through connections and research. His grasp of politics and military culture went way outside of that of the Navy/submarines.

They are testing it in Maine not Orange Beach.

Have I got this straight, Jonesy? A $40 million computer tells you you're chasing an earthquake, but you don't believe, and you come up with this on your own?
....Including all the navigation maps?

No the Cajun Navy needs to be disbanded as it is today. Between the egos and misappropriation of the leaders, somebody needs to do something. If you want examples, just ask.
