Its absolutely absurd there is even 1 person out there that feels they should be "forgiven" of their loan debt for a loan they consciously and willfully borrowed.
How in the frick can someone justify that?
You borrowed money under agreed upon terms of repayment and now you don’t want to repay it. Tough titty.

It's all these people that think they're entitled to every fricking thing and if they can't afford it then you should pay for it.
"Free" stuff.
What the frick do they think "debt forgiveness" means? That doesn't mean the creditor is going to lose out... it means that somehow another group of people will end up footing the bill.

Second, why should someone be burdened with debt their entire life for their college education?

Because they chose it?
My oldest son (that I mentioned earlier) is finishing up his residency in plastics. McKenzie comes in and wants $10,000 DD tits. They look great. A few months down the road, she's fired for blowing an employee in the mail room. McKenzie can't afford her $10,000 medical bills along with her 36 month, leased Lexus car note, and her townhome payments.
She gets to declare for bankruptcy and have all the debts forgiven AND she gets to keep the DDs! She chose to get the tits, didn't pay for them, and is no longer burdened by the debt anymore. Weird how it all works out...
Good for us men though....

Or fat arse tax refund checks that equal way more than they paid in.

Bingo. And this is what some people seem to forget/ignore. Debt isn't forced upon anyone (unless they're into some shady Sopranos type shite).

One reason tuition is so high is the availability of student loans. There's no pressure on a college to reduce costs because of the student loan program.
Wait what?
You think the way to solve high tuition costs is to continue to let people take out student loans and make them all FORGIVABLE? This is literally just building debt. By your logic, the tuition would remain high because students are getting the money via loans.. but now loans are forgiven so all of that borrowed money goes unpaid.. creating a huge debt.

This. And what the rugged individualists on this board don't understand, the loan companies make a killing by simply taking federal money and loaning it to students at outrageous interest rates. So the loan company is simply a middle man, a leach that profits but bears no risk. And the interest is compounded in a way unlike car or mortgage. Student loan principals just don't go down. A $8000 student loan will take 10+ years to pay off even making more than minimum payments.

Net gain for society
But for real, that woman should have her future wages and tax refunds garnished until her debts are paid. She does free labor for the government to speed up the process.
If she kills herself, the life insurance pays her debts and we sell her organs to pay her debts.
TheCaterpillar For President 2020 campaign is starting now…who’s in?

1099 income is easily hidden.
I didn't say it was for everyone, but insome situations there is nothing that will happen to the debtor except a bad credit score

I think the student loan program should be shut down. We should have college vouchers, but limited to put pressure on colleges to reduce their costs.

Exactly, big business has a risk free windfall while those with student loans suffer.

Quite simply put, you're a complete moron and I sincerely hope you aren't in a position to make financial decisions that affect other people.

Student loans are fine but the interest rates should be manageable.
It's fine that the government wants to profit from educating their citizens but the billion dollar per year profits are extortion.

I'm completely fine with government regulation of student loan interest rate levels, not letting them compound, or start piling up until graduation.
However, that is already pushing it and should be the end of it.

Wow. You don't know me. I'm extremely responsible, probably more so than most posters here. I have no debt except my monthly Amex and another card, both of which I always pay in full. I make financial decisions for me fairly often, and they generally work out well.

These aren't rugged individualists. Anyone wanting someone arrested for student loan delinquency is a bigGov statist.
