Yes because American virtue is only to be found in the methed up hollers of W. Virginia and Tennessee, the red clay wastelands of Georgia and Alabama, and the trailer parks of rural Arizona and Texas. All that high falutin industry, education, and arts are anti Ammurican. It's shocking that crime rates are higher where there's a lot of people living close together!! Sprawl ya'll !! save Amurica!

bullshite.

How many murders total in those cities a year?

Maybe the premise of your argument is incorrect.

They never said “per year”

Not really.
Are we talking murder rates (per 100k people)? Are we talking total murders? A whole lot of missing context.

Jamaica has the highest “murder rate” but less than 2k murders/yr.

Take away Jackson also and we might fall into last place.

Just a suggestion.

Mathematically neither are possible, so no further context is actually needed. It's bullshite.

And what’s wild is the OP never returned to this thread to defend why he ever thought this could be true or to, god forbid, edit/take accountability for spreading horse shite

Don't worry he has already started another thread that he won't reply to if he gets called out for being wildly inaccurate

No, It just shows that people will believe whatever they want to, regardless of accuracy.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story or in this case post.

Depends on what you classify as a violent crime and if you trust government-controlled media to report the truth (good luck with that).

Remove 5 highest cities in all the countries on the list. . .if you want to do that

Otherwise you are just fudging numbers

Anyone who believes this is dense and gullible.

There are around 20,000 murders every year in the U.S. Say each one of these cities has 500, that's still 17,500.

Also, there's no disputing that there's a positive correlation between access to guns and murders. Africa is just as poor and fricked up as Central America and has a small fraction of murders compared to Central America.

We are talking per capita, though, right?

a 13% reduction would be more significant in a per capita accounting

Central America, as shitty as their reposrting is, has WAAAAAAY better reporting than most every African nations.

I'd wager African countries have had genocides, with no change in their numbers.

I agree with your sentiments and what you are implying, but holy cow that's one hell of a strawman.
