Honest question: Have you ever read a page of a history book or paid attention in a history class?
Says the guy who asked the OT to help him understand global politics. You're probably a 4-star general on Call of Duty but it's much different in real life. Start off by reading about the massive military reductions under Mullah Obama... You might actually like reading about it since Call of Duty is based off the American military.

Guys ya'll are making this sound more complicated than it is.
Look, Russia is teaming up with Syrian regime, who we hate, to fight ISIS (we hate) and they are also fighting different rebel groups (that we like). ISIS is in a love-hate relationship with Al-Nusra front who we hate and they are fighting Syrian regime also. There are different general rebel groups like the FSA who it is unclear who we hate and like.
You also have the Kurds, (who we like) in Syria they are the YPG. They are fighting ISIS and neutral with Syrian regime. They have an off branch called the PKK who are other somewhat ally Turkey hates. Turkey isn't bombing ISIS but bombing PKK but not YPG. In Iraq you have Peshmerga which is Iraqi Kurds who are at a temporary alliance with Iraq army who we love but was at war with a few years ago. Get ya'lls heads out of your asses, its not complicated.
My solution, arm the frick out of the Kurds and get the hell out. Not saying the Kurds are perfect by any means, but frick everybody else.

When did I ask the OT to help me understand global politics? I asked you to back up your position on why we should go to war with Russia or China to which you responded with some nonsense about Obama being the only world leader to ever try and shrink an empire.
So I assume you're for unbridled aggressive expansion of American influence and country control?
Why is it a bad thing to want to pull out of the middle east?
Do you not understand how to have a discussion? You have yet to back up a single thing you've said with facts or reasoning.
And Obama is not the first leader in world history to consider shrinking what you refer to as an "empire" but for what I think we can agree for the sake of discussion to call American military presence.
I asked the history book question because this quote:
quote:
Obama is the only world leader in history that has sought to shrink an empire. Every other has sought to expand
Is one of the most ignorant things I've read on this board. And it leaves open so many questions about you and your beliefs.
Is it wrong not to agree with aggressive expansion?
Is shrinking American military presence a good or a bad thing?
What do we stand to gain from the shrink? Or lose?
What has history shown us of the past emperors who sought only expansion?

At the highest level, the perception is what matters. And the fact is that in most of the world, especially the ME, Russia and China, being gay is perceived as a weakness. Whether or not being gay is a weakness has absolutely zero to do with how our enemies perceive him. And perception is reality. The fact is that our group political foes and enemies and most of our "alllies" view us as weak. The Secretaried of the Army and Navy are both gay, our president rides girls bicycles with a fricking helmet that a 10 year old would wear. We look like bitches so we'll get treated like bitches.
And FTR my first post in this thread was I'd rather us look like pussies than start a world war over Syria. But make no mistake, this country is run by pussies in the eyes of the rest of the world.

All we need to do is send a clear message and draw a red line.

But I do agree with
The Kurds have been getting fricked for so long, I think it's time they did some fricking. Let them annex parts of Iraq, Syria and Turkey to form Kurdistan (which should have been done after WW1). Roll the dice and get the frick out.

Russia needs some conflict in the ME to drive up oil prices and save their economy. Wars=money. Something will happen.

I don't have a problem with that. High oil price are good for my business.

Fun fact, talk to anyone from Turkey about Kurds and you'll hear the most racist shite you've ever heard. They fricking hate them passionately. I once brought up the idea of Kurdistan to this Turkish dude I knew and he almost took a swing at me. He never gave me a good explanation for why they hate them but the hate is real and enthusiastic.
That's my cool story for the day.
