You have three options:

50/50 bowl to disposal
60/40 bowl to disposal
single bowl

Which do you choose and why?

I'm a farmhouse guy for space efficiency. I also often cook large meals so the big dishes are easier to rinse off in the large sink.

I don't find the point in having two separate bowls if you aren't using them to wash the dishes by hand.

I don't know much about kitchen sinks...but when I visit my mother, she almost always has one of those "house hunter" shows on, and here is what you have to have to make it all work:

-Granite countertops
-Backsplash
-Open floor plan
-An annoying bitch for a gf/wife who has to argue over every little thing that you want in a house.

Hope this helps.

Single bowl. Makes cleaning large pots and pans so easy. Will never have anything different.

Just got an apron front sink, one huge side on the left and a low barrier between the smaller bowl on the right side. Definitely recommend. Tons of room for larger pots and pans, especially if you need to soak anything for a while.

She doesn't soak a lot of stuff, mostly just daily dishes. I'm helping a friend with the work but she's stuck on the sink.

I say 60/40 and she's leaning that way too but still not sure.

Farmhouse sink unless it doesn't go with anything.

That's easy. Definitely do 60/40. It would be a total pain if the barrier were in the middle. I wouldn't steer you wrong. I just spent two years researching every detail about every single thing I chose for my new house. Either get a 60/40 or don't get a barrier at all. I've used both sides every day since moving in. I soak bottles in one sink while washing dishes in the other. Trust me.

Reason: washing large dishes. Being single I mostly wash my dishes by hand and still don't miss a double sink at all. I would never ever go back to a double sink.

I just updated my kitchen and went with a 2 bowl low divide sink. It is divided and can function as a single sink with enough water.

2 sinks so you can have a dirty side and a cleaner side. Say for defrosting meat.

Whatever you do, do not get a flat kitchen sink. My apartment has one and it is the most annoying piece of shite sink ever. It does not empty well and always leaves pieces of food and stuff behind. We have them in our bathrooms too, and toothpaste stains will always be there unless you wipe it to the drain. It is so annoying.

Edit: It seems that this sink is a farmhouse, and a lot of you like it. My opinion is completely different lol. It is probably more okay to be in the kitchen, but the bathrooms is absurd

We've got a 50/50 farmhouse sink. Works well. It's nice to be able to thaw meat out while not taking up the entire sink. Can handle large pots and pans too.

I love my old 60/40 split. Disposal and faucet are on the right side (40) for spraying dishes clean, and the left (60) is deeper for thawing meat or soaking larger pots/pans.

Recently got the single bowl and love it. I can easily wash a large cutting board in it without getting the kitchen floor wet.

Mine is 60/40 right now and I've pondered this question myself, but how often do you really wash large bowls? My laundry sink is not far from my kitchen that I could use if needed.

I use my small sink all the time for soaking something, thawing meat, grease, etc. that I would absolutely hate to use the entire sink up for.
