No doubt. The only reason this became such a huge deal is the timing of it. The officers gave him plenty of opportunities, tried to handle the situation with non-lethal alternatives, even holstered their weapon and tried to take him down, yet he refused to cooperate. He was armed and dangerous. They handled it as well as you could possibly hope.
