Grew up going there at least 3-4 times a year before it blew up. Haven't been in a few years but it is an absolutely amazing place. The skiing is incredible and summer can be just as fun if not more. We spent alot of time on the Idaho side of the mountain, north of Driggs. One of the most beautiful places in the country imo.

Useless fact: my stepmother's dad constructed the antler arches right there in the main Townsquare.
That is pretty cool. My family went the summer of 1992, I was 9. I still remember the antler arches.

I wonder if those girls could handle another 5"

Will this mountain be navigable for a mediocre snowboarder who has about 7 ski trips under his belt? I can board blues pretty well, but blacks will eat my lunch.
about 25% of it will be. On the other 75% just realize that eventually you will end up on level ground

My family started a forest fire out there once.

You will be fine. Wouldn't advise you getting on the tram the first day. The locals around here like to compare our blue runs to black runs around the country. The only thing is here black runs are never groomed. Just watch out and be smart, as the sign near the tram says "our mountain is nothing like you have skied before". We have 1-2 people die in bounds every year being in a place they dont belong. Ex blew out her acl/mcl and broke tib/fib and now lives some where else because of that mountain. So it can be a life changing experience.
Snowing this morning!

We will definitely take it slow and work our way up on this mountain.

Most blues at Jackson Hole are very much black diamond at typical Colorado resorts. If you ski eastern slops then a Blue at JHMR is def going to be a black diamond.
I took my brother to JH and he skis crested butte mostly and the blue runs at JH intimidated the hell out of him. Its the most vertical mountain in the US.
I would advise you to stay away from black diamonds there.

Jeez maybe I should have stuck with Park City. Hopefully we can find some runs that aren't overly difficult.

Like I said eventually it'll level out. Just nut up, pick a line, and drop in baw

Yep, can't get any better if you're not pushing yourself. Will definitely enjoy the scenery at the very least.

Big Sky looks amazing.....Another moderate storm pushing in early next week into the tetons apparently.

When are you going? Even with a lot of snow the whole mountain isn't going to be open yet.
As of right now nothing is open
LINK
December is when most of the mountain begins to open.
BTW
7 green
30 blue
20 double blue
54 black
23 double black
BTW awesome video here:

Not until February.

So it looks like we will be using about 27% of the mountain.

I thought I was a dead man @ the Mangy Moose Saloon back in 1982. My buddy jumped up on the stage with the house band blow in' his harp. He was insanely good but looked like a Jewish mobster up on stage with those Cowboys. It was like Bob's Country Bunker in the Blues Brothers. We were hammered cheering him on....they firmly escorted us out to the street.
