An excessive sentence for marijuana probably isn’t the best example of American freedom given our drug policies here.

Link me to anyone being locked up for 9 years here for a vape pen of MJ, please.

I've seen some people in St. Tammany Parish get locked up for decades over a small amount of weed... BUT they were also repeat offenders, like had been in and out of the judicial system there and had plenty of chances to NOT find theselves in that situation. But just like Griner, their dumbasses thought they were above the law and decided they were just going to do whatever they wanted and they got popped. No matter how stupid I thought it was or how unfair, if I knew even having a joint or vape pen on me could land my arse in prison for years, I wouldn't fricking risk it. Any rational person wouldn't risk it. Those who would are fricking stupid. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. You made your bed, now lie in it.

Sadly, a lot of black people don't seem to get this concept. They think laws and enforcement of them is "racist," and the New Jim Crow.

Is it against the rules (official and unofficial) to post pics of a shirtless Griner?

Let’s just say that protrusion on her neck appears to be the real deal.

Eh, not really. We’ve excessively punished folks for small level possession and LEOs have regularly used “do I smell marijuana” as a gateway to violate the 4th Amendment.

Now if you want to compare detainment conditions and general due process, I can go with that (to a degree). I just think it’s not a great “gotcha” given our own history of prosecution for marijuana.

We're not talking about history. We're talking about modern day America and the modern world. Sure, 30 years ago, there were some very harsh sentences doled out at the height of the "War On Drugs." The last decade has seen legalization of weed in many U.S. States. I practiced criminal law for years. The people I saw getting put away for what seemed like excessive sentences for weed, were those with long criminal records and multiple drug offenses on their records. No one absolutely HAS to have marijuana. The people I saw get screwed for possession or distribution had plenty of chances to NOT find themselves in that position. They CHOSE to keep being stubborn dumbasses and act like the law didn't apply to them and they got popped as habitual offenders, violated probation or drug diversion etc. You can disagree with the law but it's the law. You know its the law. If you choose to break the law, that's on you. You assumed that risk. Don't cry when your dumb decisions come back to bite you on the arse.

I’ve contemplated on the kneeling issues and it’s disappointing to say the least. You have to believe that her present situation has undoubtedly humbled her. With that said, she’s one of ours and we need to get her out. In fact, we need to get them all out! The truth is, they are all political prisoners by the Russians government. Keep sending those HIMARs and keep killing Russians. I’m sorry, but I’m old school and genuinely despise communist, and that is what Putin is. He bragged how the US was humiliated with the Afghanistan pullout, and that may be true, but his military is a cluster frick and truly a paper Tiger.

If she hadn't been living and working in Russia off and on for years, and instead lived and worked in, say......France off and on for years, would you still feel the same way?

Crazy... It's like breaking the law, especially in a foreign country, has consequences and stuff.

It’s not an excessive penalty in The country where she brought drugs too. That is their standard conviction sentencing.

She shouldn’t have traveled with drugs….period.

When she (or one of her representatives) said in a very aggrieved tone: they never stopped her before when she carried this in with her.

Russia may have made a note of that.
