Newnan is also the home of Alan Jackson. There is a big mural of him on the side of one of the buildings downtown.

Did a quick drive-by through Pelham after dropping the kids off at daycare.
Couldn't even get into cross creek. Looks like it went right by the new beer hog and over the civic complex. Bunch of trees down and debris.

Another first-hand account of the chasers who had a baby with them while on the Brent/Centreville tornado. Think only about the images we saw just on radar. Classic signals that all screamed violent tornado, and these assholes took their BABY into it and put themselves in a very bad spot, at that. They should be thanking whatever God they believe in from a jail cell this morning.

I approached the Brent wedge from the north. Tucked myself into the inflow notch to the north. My escape route was north back into the heavy rain, and I had to use that escape route. I saw some chasers, with a baby, and 2 dogs get hit by the tornado. Always have an escape plan.

Here is drone footage of the destruction
I grew near Newnan, I know a lot of people cleaning up pieces of their homes this morning. My family was lucky and didnt have their house destroyed but many others werent as lucky.

Wow, tornado pulled the roof off the house but left the clothes hanging in the closets.

Damn, I know several people from my hometown that ended up settling in the Newnan area. I need to check in on them.
But, it always blows my mind after seeing damage videos just thinking about the forces it takes to snapped all those trees like twigs 10-20 feet off the ground. It's unbelievable.

He's alright. I've seen some folks calling him out on Twitter for driving recklessly and causing that wreck. I haven't seen it, so I don't know how true that part is.

What blew my mind on April 27, 2011 was seeing a row of brand new concrete, rebar-inforced power poles sheared off about 4ft high. Some of the rebar was bent, but alot of it was just snapped. Other than the damage from the poles hitting the ground, the break looked clean enough that you could almost just stand them back up and JB-Weld them back together. That, and the high-tension power poles near the nuclear plant that were doubled over and crumpled like they were toys will always be burned into my mind.

Will be interesting to see the actual damage surveys, which will take several days, especially for the ones that crossed state lines. They will note damage paths and any places the storm lifted.

Definitely alot of work to do on the "When and Where" aspect of this outbreak:

from the witness accounts in this thread from people who were watching his stream at the time of the wreck... he rammed into the back of someone who was making a turn

4 tornadoes that were potentially on the ground for 100+ miles
1 of which that possibly went for >200 miles

Second time in 6 months that Newnan High School has been damaged by a tornado. One spun up during Hurricane Delta and did some damage.

After watching that drone footage over Newnan, it's clear the death toll is going to rise significantly. Totally terrifying.
