Family is full of shite. If he was beating someone it would be documented

Wouldn’t an additional battery charge be on the arrest warrant if he in fact was hitting a girl and the detective knew about it through conversation with witnesses?

His girlfriend was not there (per him) and witnesses did not mention a woman.

He called Backpage for a little action to meet him on the corner of St Charles and Whatever St.....Backpage whore shows up and either tries to rob him or turns out to be a shim....Ward get pissed and starts beating the prostitute.

It absolutely would

The family's story is a huge crock of shite

No detective would tell them he was beating a woman, if he didn't put it in the warrant

Think how stupid that sounds people

And an actual detective decides to tell the family, but not bother documenting it?

From the Advocate:

quote:

Schnyder and her mother, Sonya, Jackson's ex-wife, said that according to conversations with a detective on the case and friends in the area at the time of the beating, Jackson was attacked when he tried to stop Ward from hitting a woman.

Sonya Schnyder, 57, said her ex-husband loved walking from his Central City apartment to the French Quarter and back in the evenings, and she assumes he was doing that when he stopped at a store he frequented and was attacked.

Kenyada Schnyder said she talked to people who worked at the store and knew Jackson’s full name because he cashed his monthly Social Security checks there.

They told her that Ward was hitting a woman and Jackson asked him to stop.

She also said she spoke with a detective who relayed similar information.

For clarity, his daughter and her mother are relaying second-hand information. Could be true or false, no way to know yet.

I am telling you a detective didn't tell them shite like that. That is fricking ludicrous to think a detective would tell family members stories that aren't going to be documented

They may have heard "stories" from random people, but not any detectives here

Have you read the police report and read the statements by the witnesses?

Has anyone seen the arrest warrant for either the battery or murder charge? Anyone know where to look online? I can't seem to find anything.

From the advocate:

quote:

According to police, Ward was "highly intoxicated," and he was initially jailed on suspicion of battery while paramedics took Jackson to a local hospital for treatment. No other circumstances about the morning of the deadly beating have been made available.

I don't think anyone here has seen the warrant. So its possible there was some information that wasn't reported initially.

Because it is Orleans Parish, the only way to view the arrest warrant would be to go to the Magistrate clerk's office and view the physical copy. It is not made available online.

Something interesting is mentioned in the article but no one has really talked about it.

We now know that the 60 year old man is not homeless. He lived in Guste Homes, if I understand what that is, it isn't a true housing project but a place that offers substantial discounts to residents who pass a vetting process and is substantially subsidized by HANO.

Police have not said what led to the beating, which a warrant for Ward's arrest states at least two people witnessed.

Which could mean they know but just arent saying

You can go see it, but it will have to be by walking down there and viewing it yourself for Orleans parish

At this point, every news agency in Nola should have sent someone to view it

I'd imagine the original arresting warrant for the battery charge is something that can be requested from NOPD, but I'm not that desperate.
