the advocate:

quote:

As the father of two daughters, 60-year-old Arnold "Red" Jackson couldn't help but intervene one night when he spotted a man beating a woman right there on the sidewalk along St. Charles Avenue, family members say. So Jackson, who lived nearby in the Guste high-rise, stepped in to help — only to be severely beaten himself by a much younger man, Jackson's daughter and her mother said Wednesday. Jackson died last week after spending several days in the hospital. On Wednesday, Garrett James Ward, a 25-year-old commercial real estate agent from Baton Rouge, surrendered to police and was booked on second-degree murder in connection with Jackson's death. "I pray and I pray for God to remove all the evil in my heart that he caused me," Jackson's daughter Kenyada Schnyder said, referring to Ward. "I don't wish that on anybody — but I do pray he gets what he deserves."

The family is really really playing this "he stepped into save a woman being beaten" angle.

I have some doubts about that, but we shall see

The family has held that story since the beginning.

However, it isn't mentioned in the arrest warrant

So, that seems, ummm, strange

It sure throws a wrench into the "defending himself and got carried away" defense.

If I where he, I would be booking a cruise right now, in the name of the identity I plan to assume.

He will go away for a long time.

Damn

His girlfriend was not there (per him) and witnesses did not mention a woman.

I wonder if this is true. If so, that’s really bad. If it’s not true, the advocate is pretty irresponsible for running that. How would his daughters know something like that?

I am guessing here

I find it very strange there isn't a single thing in the arrest warrant that mentions this from the witnesses, yet, the family, is saying it happened

We know the father didn't tell them, we know the police didn't put it in the arrest report, so it seems very strange

Are the family members overcompensating for what might have happened? Who knows

But this is what his daughter actually said about the incident so y'all can get a better picture

quote:

Man brah this dude whoeva he his decide he wanna beat on his gurl dat day so my dad must've spoke up n told dude dats not how u treat ah lady man my pops old dude decide to beat on my dad sent my pops to the hospital dude go to jail but bond out cus his momma put up her house man I'm gon make ah song bout u fk boys who wanna beat on women I got sumthing for u bitches love ain't blind bitch ima get the nine. Man just the thought is fkn me up. . .

But I do wanna ask thus dude why he had to beat my dad but this new orleans so they might do even let me go to court when they catch this dude cus I wanna ask him why he did dat to my dad the dude was beating his girlfriend or whoeva n my dad must've spoke up n told dude dats not right so dude chose to send my dad to the hospital my dad already have health problems n is old. So dude got bonded out cus his mom put up her house so he out on bail running around sumwhere but my dad past lastnite so he goin to jail for murder.

could be that the witness was the woman he was beating and they are protecting or treating her as a domestic violence victim?

No, that it couldn t

They aren't going to leave the fact he was beating someone out of the warrant

And I think that sounds very fishy considering the "detective" left that out the arrest warrant
