The classic NOLA folk retort

Bc people pretend crime doesn’t happen in other parts of the NOLA metro area.

It does. But with less frequency, greater attention by the responding police force and more repercussions for offenders who are caught.
There were car break ins recently in kenner on an early Monday morning. That Wednesday kenner police had arrested the perpetrators in New Orleans.

New orleans has an understaffed force and it shows.

Not saying that we don't need laws (or that we need any more gun control laws), just saying that your particular logic for why we don't need more gun control laws is flawed.

I don't necessarily think we need any more gun control laws. I think many of the ones we have suck and are unconstitutional. I just pointed out a simple failure of logic.

"It imposes otherwise unnecessary burdens on law-abiding citizens but is ignored by evil people anyway" is not good logic for not regulating something. We have many laws that we all agree are awesome that violate this principle.

Why am I a scumbag?

Yet I'm not pretentious about the crime/blight problem like you NOLA people are. I know you think it's genteel to get robbed at gunpoint in the driveway of your $900k 800 sq ft shanty.

Please share with us some details of when the last housing bubble busting happened in the Nola area

I don’t think people are pretentious more so that there are actually reasons to live there that outweigh the bad.

I'm not in the Nola area. Neither is the person I was responding to, to my knowledge.

Do you think the Nola area is representative of the general housing market?

Were you involved in residential real estate at all around 2008?

There are enough gun control laws out there. The solution isn’t to throw more laws at it.
