Take away the broken levees and New Orleans comes out smelling like a rose

100% but there was significant wind damage. I suspect a lot of tornadoes

I can’t believe we are talking about fkin Katrina again. PTSD is real.

A lot of the Nagin blame came from hack Republicans wanting to defend W because of partisan politics. Which is funny now because Republicans are finally admitting Iraq was a giant mistake. Katrina was a disaster of biblical scale and require Federal and State help.

All of the blown out windows at the Hyatt and roof stripped off of the Dome were not flood related.

I read the book his communication director wrote in college. Interesting stuff to get behind scenes look at City Hall during that time. Katrina broke Nagin.

t00f is right about the wind damage. There were trees down from Katrina where we had evacuated in Baton Rouge - of course nothing compared to every where else. But flooding was not the only damage done

Sure, of course there was wind damage, a tornado here and there.....but thats nothing compared to what the flood waters due to the broken levees did to the city......

Those broken levees, broke peoples lives, businesses, souls, completely changed peoples lives like you would never understand unless you went through it

Katrina didnt break me, but it cracked me..... I stayed for a few other storms since then, IDA and ZETA were the only ones that I actually second guessed myself as the hours started closing in.....and the Katrina PTSD started hitting me

this is so true

And if you were an evacuee - left on our own accord bc we take personal responsibility seriously- you were treated like shite - and that just added on to the soul crushing of the whole disaster

I was living in BR for the 02 election but I voted for him in 06 but only the lesser of two evils between him and Mitch. But the writing was already on the wall so the wall with his pandering
