10% a year is not a control. 10 years ago I was paying 6000 now I am paying 12 and next year it will be 13,200 and the next year 14,500. There is no end to being taxed on a conceptual future sales price. Cali has a limit of 2% per year.

That doesn't offset all of the other dumb shite Cali does though

Move there. You'll get to pay 13% income tax and there's plenty of kids to swing your fake tits in front of too.

And this isn't true because you live in Dallas County and rates are going down. But don't let the facts get in the way

Most Texans feel as I do. If Beto would hit this hard he would have a good chance but he is kind of goofy and clueless

And that's why rates are going to be lower this year and property tax reform is almost certainly going to happen.

Just don't complain when you are paying 12% sales tax on everything.

Yes if he wasn't a clueless retard, he would have a chance.

I would gladly pay that if it would stop the crazy rise in my prop taxes. I would gladly pay an income tax because I would come out way ahead on that too.

As an idiot liberal, this makes no sense because it's probably going to crush poor people

Thank god my land isn’t in Texas. If 4 acres is $300,000 I’d hate to see the value on 300+ acres

Consumption taxes are regressive by nature.

Democrats in the house want you to keep paying property taxes because poor people "can't afford" a higher sales tax.

But sure, I'm the one lying. Not you, the guy who said the toddler tranny show was at an ice cream parlor

They are getting killed by property taxes too. Many poor people in Texas bought a house for 29k and now it's valued at 100k. Property tax in an unfaktes real estate value environment is way more regressive than a sales tax. And I really proud of you for being concerned about poor people. You'll be a demicrate yet.

And yet there you go. I admitted my confusion, admitted my mistake and bowed out on that matter. But my prop taxes keep going up in this bastion of conservatism and small governemnt ..hahahha what a croc ...regardless.

My property tax in LA is $2,975 on a $380K assessed house. This thread makes me feel a lot better.

We paid $8,221 last year in LA State tax.
$2,975 in property taxes.

Sounds like in Texas, I'd have to pay a whole lot more to get the same home and be in a suburb. $11,196. How much would my house be worth to pay the same?

Way these people talk $800K is just a decent home in Austin or Houston.

You have to look at it by price per square foot, that's where you really see how ridiculous Texas real estate has gotten

I understand taxes have to be paid and that there’s no means of raising them that isn’t somewhat odious, but I find property taxes to be especially insidious because of things like this.

It’s always lovely when people that don’t own a home can vote in favor of taxes for people that do.
