Focus resources on a few select 4 year institutions and let the rest of the money go to subsidizing the tuition for career and technical education.
What do you do with hundreds of millions dollars spent on campus construction over the last 60 years?
How about keep what you have open but merge the universities into regional institutions under one flagship school.
For example:
Merge Southeastern, UNO, and Nicholls as one super university with shared administrative and admission functions. We can call it the University of South Louisiana. Each location would be called, University of South Louisiana - (insert city) Campus. It would be something like University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Campus.
Students can take classes at any campus and graduate at the location of choice. You can emphasize remote learning and testing. Also virtual classrooms for one professor to teach at all three schools at once.
Athletics could even be shared between schools where the football team might be centered on one campus but play at a rotating home site between Hammond and Thibodaux. Basketball and Baseball they can rotate all 3 sites.

My understanding is that it’s being strongly considered to moving UNO from the UL system back to the LSU system as it originally was.
Why would UNO want to go back to the LSU system? They were always first to get their budget cut and LSU would never let them be on equal footing in any aspect. Supposedly when they were winning in baseball (first LA team to go to Omaha) and basketball (the Tim Floyd days) the state politicians decided that had to come to an end.

Should’ve hit ‘em with the reverse card.

Well I definitely don’t want to take economics from this guy since he seems to not understand economics.

Louisiana State University
University Louisiana - Lafayette
Louisiana Tech University
That is all that is needed. The rest need to be in some sort of regional junior college system.
