re: Unless you pay for twitter you can only view 600 tweets a day now

It's actually stupid as hell. Plenty of extremely popular social media apps are shells of themselves now due to changes and incompetence.
I'm of the opinion that this is 100% Musk covering his arse due to the Google hosting fallout. It may have the added benefit of curbing some of the bot/scraper shite, as well, but that is just a byproduct.
That said, I can't see that trying to decouple a business/platform of that size and scope from Google as a bad move. It is a "too many eggs in one basket" deal, so-to-speak.

There are more ads on my feed now than maybe ever.
I’ve noticed I have an ad every third tweet when viewing on my phone. I mute as many of those accounts as I can.
I have Adblock on chrome on my laptop so I don’t see any ads there.

What? It's a 100% absolute critical need.

Yeah seems like 150 of the 600 posts you can see are gonna be ads.

It is, to an extent, but being so dependent on one entity isn't a good thing.

Wait, you're still on the "lost advertisement" train?
Just today I've blocked ads from both CNN and Chevrolet, along with countless others. There are more ads on my feed now than maybe ever.

Is this really that complicated for you to understand?
Limiting the amount of posts a user can see greatly decreases the reach of the advertising on Twitter.
If ABC blocked viewers from seeing a portion of a football game b/c they arbitrarily decided you've gotten enough free TV for the time being advertisers would be fricking livid.

600,tweets thats lots of interwebs for me

That is not at all what you said in your other post, doc.
You tried to imply that Twitter has very little advertisement left when that can't be further from the truth currently speaking.
You then pivoted to trying to talk about future impacts.

Who the hell has time to read 600 tweets a day?
If responses by others are also tweets, this thread alone would consume a quarter your daily allotment.

It really isn't. It counts every single tweet, every response to the tweet, and every advert you scroll past. Refreshing your feed also counts as another view as well as anything else new it brings up. It doesn't matter if you actually engaged with w/the tweet or ad.

Twitter also has a contract with Amazon AWS.

It’s a terrible idea when the alternative is your massive site stops working completely

Not even close. You need to get your head out of Elon's arse.
This is what I posted.

lol I'm sure his remaining advertisers are thrilled at this crap.
Nowhere did I say he only has a few left. I said the ones that remained are not going to be happy.
It's a known fact that Twitter advertising revenue is down. The advertisers who stayed on the platform are not going to want to hear that Musk is limiting how many ad's potential customers can see via an arbitrary view limits. Period. End of story. They are going to say "What the frick is this? This isn't what we paid for and we aren't going to renew if it stays this way."
I'm sorry there is no way paint a rosy picture of this move. It was a stupid arse mistake that will make him lose even more revenue.

Ate you Randy Jackson from American Idol?

why don’t you start your own Twitter?
Posted on 7/1/23 at 7:08 pm to Klark Kent
I mean - we actually started our own FB at LSU a decade ago - I was good at the non-participating part of that triad - but it was literally a school project
ETA: I'll clarify I guess - I'm referring to the IT part of it

Why use twitter when all the good stuff is posted here!
Where do you think they get it?
Twitter for all its faults is the fastest media around not counting the downtime.
I use it for daily traffic to see where wrecks or road congestion is (someone does the updates and even posts official city data).
I use it for weather events and have several of the weather tweters bookmarked. Handy in tornado season
I use it for sports with several bookmarked
I use it for news with several bookmarked
I use it for business news with several bookmarked
And yet I am not a member. Do not have an account. Its like paying for football insider sites you get more info in the free public domain but have to learn who is trustworthy. Over time you learn.
And its an end around to all of main stream media who only want to spoon feed you what they want. On Twitter I can get real news and sports and information. In football I can get real info from someone close to team.
Twitter really does work great. And I hope they fix ot because I’ve been locked out since Fri morning.
This thread would be a good example of Twitter. Someone makes a tweet (post) and people comment on it. Some are crap posts (or tweets) but its like a married couple watching them argue back amd forth.

Nah. I only used "dog" because that guy used it. I'd never say that shite in real life like that.
