Yeah but you’re a nasty MFr.
I think the multiple meningitis deaths for louisiana college students right before I enrolled also played a part

Notre Dame has mandated vaccinations as well. That way they can be completely open.

And if you think mandatory vaccinations are at the very most a mid-20th century phenomenon, in 1809 Massachussetts mandated the smallpox vaccine and many states followed suit.

It's not crazy, and generally celebrated by everyone to require a vaccine, when the disease is actually deadly without needing to make up statistics to make it seem worse than it is.

They could be completely open anyway. There have been a total of 2,450 COVID deaths in the age group 0-29 in the United States. Overall COVID death toll is over 500,000.

By all means, abundance of caution me.

So?

Almost every single college mandates vaccines for enrollment.

Don't like it, don't go. Or do online

I’m sure that Thomas Jefferson is proud.

After becoming president in 1801, Jefferson expanded his commitment to smallpox inoculation. His library catalog indicates that he followed the work of the British physicians Edward Jenner and John Lettsom in their experiments with the use of the milder cowpox as an effective immunization against smallpox

Lsu requires vaccination for this:

quote:

Louisiana law (R.S. 17:170 - Schools of Higher Learning) requires proof of dates of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, and tetanus-diphtheria for all first-time LSU students born on or after January 1, 1957
Tell me the death rates and death tolas of those for college aged kids

People think Jefferson and the other founders were libertarians. Perhaps they were more libertarian than people today, but it was hardly as small a government as some would think.

So far, more than 340 universities, including Carnegie Mellon, Duke, Boston College and Notre Dame, have recently mandated that students and employees need to be vaccinated before they return to their campuses.

From your link:

quote:

One of the most feared diseases in the eighteenth century was smallpox. A high percentage of those infected died; many who survived were blinded or badly disfigured.

Please continue to equate smallpox and COVID.

Who's assuming the risk? The university? The CDC? The FDA? Somewhere along the line, if this is mandatory, someone is getting sued.
