That’s why you live in a nice quiet place with some long term residents like, Highland Village II.

I thought this was the complex they just built on E Parker

Those look super nice but are insanely expensive.

I didn’t mean poor ie they’re on welfare. Also, the vast majority that live there, their parents pay, and often times blindly. They just go off what their kids say.

Oh... and just because Timmy’s dad bought him a nice truck and pays for his apartment, doesn’t mean little Timmy has money. Timmy is still broke dick poor.

The business model is to build these apartments with the intention of selling them in a couple of years. Every single new apartment complex around LSU is like that. They make money with the original inrush of renters, then sell at the perfect time. The same companies do this all over the country.

By doing it that way, the original owners don't have to deal with the major problems. They know the apartments will go to shite without a major overhaul within 10yrs, so they get in, and get out quickly

To me, it seemed like after Lake Beau Pre houses went up, they started building the garbage apartments everywhere. University House on Brightside was the only newer, crap-illy built one when I got there in '02 IIRC. All of the others were sort of well built, or you knew what you got yourself into in the cheaper places

The real question is why does EBR still allow these to pass approval. Everyone knows the game. Everyone knows these will hurt the area within a decade or so of being built.

Baton Rouge just being Baton Rouge. Strip malls and crappy apartments any time we develop.

I could say some stuff, but I don't want to end up on the receiving end of a subpoena... On a 1-10 scale, 1 being the least surprised, 10 most, I'm at negative 500.

108 million cost of construction

287 units

$376,307 cost per unit

Not sure how that's "cheaply"

Sounds like the builder got greedy and cut some corners... but this ain't exactly HUD housing, either.

Didn’t say they did. But seeing as I know what goes on there and what is allowed, it comes to no surprise that the place has serious issues.

There’s a reason south gate towers is still nice (comparatively)They have cameras everywhere and issue fines for everything.

And for what it’s worth, I smoked a frick ton of weed and did a shite ton of coke there too.
