Have you not been paying attention the last 48 hours? They are already well past the point of no return of a PR nightmare. There are direct quotes from the CEO that, from a PR perspective, blame the entire incident on the passenger.

The continued PR nightmare of fighting it. This story needs to go away for United. Settling helps that along.

if united is really as in the clear as you keep insisting they are they will not settle, take this to court, and win big.

You keep saying this as if we aren't all completely aware of why companies choose to avoid drawn out court cases with customers.

Put yourself in that situation... You have to go work the next morning to see clients, you're next to your wife or girlfriend, assuming you have one, and she doesn't have to get off... Which put things in a bad situation as well.. So she has to get off...

Frick that, I hope United pays through their arse...

Tough call for me. Despite all of the frequent flyer experts in here saying you gotta know the rules, I honestly would have had no idea they could pull you at random and would be shocked if they did so. I would be torn between wanting to make a scene and also knowing you can't frick around on a plane. I probably would have left on my own, but yelling frick United the whole way out.

The physician thing makes no difference to me. That guy is no more important than some trashy person who needs to get home to his kid or spouse.

That's cute. I still don't think you know what the word means.

So these are some new charts they didn't have access to the last 48 hours? Or they just weren't capable of reading these charts before?

I dislike most of the airlines like everyone else, but the legality of this case does fascinate me. From a business standpoint, United fricked up royally, but I'm not sure if they violated anything in their contract of carriage.

They admitted yesterday this was not an oversold flight. IDB and VDB policies go out the window at that point.

I'm not sure they had legal standing to kick him off.

United Contract of Carriage

It all boils down to the definition of "boarding." I've seen articles that suggest boarding isn't complete until the plane leaves the gate, which would suggest United didn't violate their policy.

ETA: Your point about being oversold is a good one as well. Like I said, I'm interested in what their legal standing may have been, even though I'm fully aware they are bastards for handling it in this manner.

My brotha! Don't be so ANGRY!!!!

All BS aside, he really shoulda just got up and walked off as the others did, and UA should have just kept upping the voucher value.

Sure, but this guy is going to claim millions in injuries, which is equally fricked up.

I'd be willing to let somebody drag me off a plan for a few million.

Right, but most if not all of the policies in there refer to flights that were oversold. That's not the case here.

I mean, any award exceeding 50k would be ludicrous. Here's a few grand. Here's a public apology. Go back to pushing pills.

Not screwing over paying customers in favor of employees, offering higher voucher amounts to entice volunteers, not assaulting a customer while forcible removing him from the seat he already paid for, company press releases and the CEO not blaming the entire situation on said passenger, not leaking said passenger's history out to the media, etc.

These are the actions of a company concerned with ending a PR nightmare.

LEO asked him to get off. he didn't. He got dragged off. Just like being told to leave a store or private property and you don't after LEO asks you to. You gonna get your arse drug out. I see no problem here. They should have pepper sprayed him once off the plane for future consideration.

The obesssion with psychopathic law and order, property and possession and adornment of corporations and business is the ugly and dark aspect of this nice culcha .

Companies also don't let situations like these reach the point this situation has. United has demonstrated a whole new approach to dealing with this, completely and repeatedly blaming the customer. That approach, coupled with so many of yall's assurance they were complexly within their rights to do what they did, should make it a very easy decision for them to take this to court and continue berating this guy.

This is what happens when people don't do as they're told, asserting their "rights". It's bullshite.
