Like a quote? From a named person with United? Nah, that's not enough.
So does the president of UA count?
quote:
This will include a thorough review of crew movement, our policies for incentivizing volunteers in these situations, how we handle oversold situations
He clearly has been told it was an oversold situation. Because if that's not true, somebody just got fired for lying to the boss

Nope, I never said what you claim I said.

But why did the leg need a crew?

Again, directly from United, not some media outlet that mixes words, as you and others have.
Just curious- in your opinion, what does this quote mean?
quote:
“The flight was not oversold,” United spokeswoman Maddie King said Tuesday.

Maybe so.
Does that change

Maybe I am ignorant here, but United did not drag him off, a cop did. I have heard nowhere that United told the cop to "drag his arse off the plane.". Yes, remove him I believe. The idiot should have done the civilized thing, got off the plane, took the dang $800 voucher and filed a complaint. By being a moron he got dragged off the plane. No money should change hands for that.

It means United has decided they aren't going to dig in and fight this. They want to move past this and continue to make money.
It certainly doesn't mean what you want it to mean.

So you think they're lying now?

No, as I already said and will repeat, I think they don't want to make an issue out of it.

They're either telling the truth or they're not. Which is it?

It's precious that you think those are the only two options for a PR rep.

Do you guys realize there's a third option the doctor may have been considering that is also United's fault? The doctor, like most normal people, most likely assumed if he politely refused that United would avoid physically removing him and instead up their dollar offer to get another volunteer?
This happens all the time, someone physically refuses so the other party has to increase their offer. It's absurd United was more stubborn than the old man and went straight from a crappy offer to physical force. If United had offered $1200-1500 cash and no one took it then I think that's more reasonable to expect physical force, but using physical force on an $800 voucher that United themselves values at $200 is a joke.

I don't think anyone is seriously arguing that United are not assholes here. The discussion is whether they are legally allowed to be assholes, and the answer is yes they are.

Let's go ahead and add this entire sentence to the ever growing list of words you don't know the meaning of. Because you keep using those words and they just aren't true.
For instance, you claimed earlier in this thread that you weren't arguing united is legally in the clear in this situation. And your latest post in here contains:
quote:
The discussion is whether they are legally allowed to be a-holes, and the answer is yes they are.
Btw, you're probably well over 150 posts now responding to people's opinions on this topic you don't really care about. That's probably been what, like 24 minutes of your life that you're never getting back?

Indeed. Weird how that works...

If that.

I also never made that claim. Stop lying.

Someone said multiple passengers reported that one passenger said "i'll give up my seat for $1,200" after they offered the vouchers and that the flight crew "laughed in his face"

Indeed. Very weird how you like to claim you didn't/aren't say/saying things that you actually have/are said/saying.

Seems reading a dictionary would be a better use of that little blurb of time.

More words for your list.

They were a-holes for trying to boot him whether legal or not, but physically removing him is on another level of stupid especially in a confined space like an airplane full of people.
All I'm saying is the doctor may of been calling their bluff, and they didn't bluff when they should have folded.
