Switching its in-flight magazine Hemisphere to a lighter variety of paper that saved an ounce a copy has saved United Airlines 170,000 gallons of fuel a year, the L.A. Times reported

Gizmod

Just think of how much fuel they could save if 75% of their customers wouldn't eat fast food every other day

Private company = find a way to reduce the weight of the magazine

Government = raise the ticket price, and don't worry about the fuel

So fat people are to blame for current ticket prices.

Nah. Then tall baws get screwed for something out of their control. I weigh more than a chub of average height.

There is still a limited amount of space on a place, so a you need a minimum fee per seat for it to work, but a surcharge for weight would work.

Tickets have been cheap. I barely made the spending threshold for Platinum this year.

Ps WWOTD?

I paid for extra leg room in flight so I could fit laptop between seat in front and my fat body.

Do I run that charge through?

I'm sure they make more off of it due to ads than what the magazine cost and that's including fuel.

I’m so glad I’m skinny. I may be a worthless, no good, alcoholic, but at least I’m not fat.

They should absolutely charge by weight and there should be no argument against this whatsoever. It will never happen though because too many people would have their feelings hurt.

It will never happen because it would be a logistical nightmare and not cost effective, plus it is a dumb idea to begin with.

False.

Bags are charged by weight.

They also should charge more if you spill over into another seat in any way shape or form.
