That sounds good in theory. But when you have a three year old that’s been sitting in the same spot on a plane for two hours waiting to take off and is 4 hours into a 5 hour flight, it won’t work. Why don’t you inconsiderate people wear noise canceling headphones since it’s such an issue for you. You know those exist right?

Jesus yes. Had to listen to one of those YouTuber gaming figs scream about how to navigate a video game. Ended grabbing the iPad from the kid and throwing it out a window I smashed and we all died

My kids have been traveling internationally since they were newborns, and no short European flights either. Asia.14-16 hrs. 1-2 x each year. They wear these things called headphones and except for the fact that they may lean on you to fall asleep you would never know they are there.
If they don’t wear headphones then they don’t get to use video devices. Pretty simple for most of us. But you’d rather punish those around you than teach your kid how to be considerate and then put the responsibility on the kid. People like you are insufferable.

And why is your alternative always “beating” your kid?

I have a 3 year old that’s flown with me a few times. She’s never even held a tablet. Never had an issue on flights because there are plenty of other activities that don’t disrupt everyone around you. You’re the inconsiderate one in this scenario. Stop letting an iPad babysit your kid and they won’t need a screen in their face 24/7.

Not every child is like that though. And that’s ok.

Yeah that logic definitely works with babies and toddlers.

The unfortunate alternative is the child throwing a tantrum. Wait, the responsibility on the kid. You mean the babies/toddlers? Lmao

That’s great because I’d rather not be around someone who’s incapable of putting on noise canceling headphones and instead wants to place the responsibility on a baby/toddler.

Because that’s how you and others with your mentality come off. Pathetic losers who cast hatred and judgement on parents that are trying their best and sometimes that’s just not enough. Inconsiderate losers that would rather place the burden on babies/toddlers.

The whining on the United FB pages has been pretty comical. I’m so glad they finally made this a rule. I hope it’s the final straw for some people to move over to spirit or just stay home.

While I agree with that concept, I won't have to worry. I banned United from any personal flights and stopped using Chase Bank's United Visa card.

I don't have anything nice to say about those people. They are a worrisome group of clowns.

It blows my mind the people who go into public places and blast noises from their phones.

I once saw a girl, probably in her teens, loudly blaring ping sounds from some idiotic mobile game she was playing. Is there something about the noise that doesnt bother her? It sure as shite bothers me.

List said activities that are sufficient for a baby/toddler.

You’re the inconsistent in this scenario.

I’ve not been inconsistent in the slightest.

None of our children have an iPad, or any electronic devices. I spend 100% of my time home from work with them going to national parks, riding bikes, going fishing, and other activities outside. The only time they have a screen in front of them is when we have our movie nights in which we all watch a movie together. Try again

What if they are toddlers?

We’ve already established that we are discussing a three year old in this hypothetical. As such, I’m not sure I understand how you’re attempting to modify or clarify my previous question. Rephrase?

You’re seriously suggesting that without any electronic aid at all you’d be able to entertain a baby, a 2 year old, and a 5 year old sufficiently for 5+ hours?

That’s an odd deflection from where we were. You said this:

quote:

Of course that’s the ideal situation. But if they don’t wear the headphones you’re saying it would be better in a contented place like a plane to let a tantrum occur?

To which I replied this:
quote:

Does your kid have enough juice in the tank to throw a tantrum for five hours? Because again, our alternative scenario is that every child on the plane is blasting noise from their devices for the entire 5+ hours.

So, agin, does your three year old have enough energy to throw a tantrum for five hours straight?

Last Sunday I took the family to Church…in pew 5 minutes before the mass starts and the 25 year old 2 rows behind us starts watching YouTube videos with no headphones.

I got up and politely asked him to turn off. He said he would when mass started. At that moment the politeness left my body…luckily an usher came next and told the guy to turn off or leave. Not a good look catching an assault charge at Church.

I’m not sure how much energy they have. But the main objective would be the avoidance of a tantrum all together right? Or would allowing a tantrum to occur in a confined space like an airplane be the ideal solution for you?

See now this is a scenario that it makes complete sense to get mad at. That’s a grown arse man.

The ideal situation? Sure. That’s why we’re putting headphones on your kid, remember? But what you’re actually asking is are we willing to do whatever it takes to try to keep your kid from throwing a tantrum, and the answer is no. And listening to the annoying ipad of every kid on the flight for the entire flight is something we aren’t willing to do. If that means we have to hear to occasional tantrum, we are willing to accept that.

Or you could put on noise cancelling headphones. Heard of them?

Yep. You’ve removed all logic and are emotionally invested into this. Good day.
