That can’t work here because of so many sitting on their arse collecting government money and cheating the system.

Their population in general is far more educated and motivated. Our population reads at an 8th grade level.

What part of our population?

The average reading skill is 7-8th grade. We also have a higher non literacy rate than the global average. 1/3rd of the US population has the very basic literacy level.

Half of the population is incapable of reading on an 8th grade level, and its getting worse.

I blame the agricultural aristocracy in the Antebellum Era.

i have a question for anyone who has worked in or owned a coffee shop (so probably nobody reading this). why is that every time i go to starbucks there are like 5 people behind the counter, put a PJs is one or two?

I had an ex working at starbucks. They have random moments where they get completely overwhelmed with business and need like 5 people on the floor. They print money.

I don't drink coffee so idk about other places.

I would rather have them doing that than collecting welfare.

Problem is they're doing both.

It is a legitimate option that many companies are considering.

It is a problem, but dealing with unions is a perpetual ever growing problem.

Worse than herding cats.

From the employee perspective, merit is far better than union, unless you prefer a simple COL raise every year. Sure you can slack and do the bare minimum but that doesn't give you any personal validation.

$20 isn't far off from an entry level wage, and working at starbucks IS more demanding than a grocery store cashier or fry cook

My opinion is that if anybody off the street can be taught the job within a few hours then you don’t get to form a Union.
Wtf do these people think making coffee drinks entitles them to anything other than an hourly wage? Sure, bargain for higher hourly pay when Starbucks is making billions but you don’t get to demand benefits akin to federal employees.

The union workers that we have to deal with are almost always the most lazy pos you deal with. They will use any excuse to not do a job saying it doesn’t pertain to them, or they are going on break…. In the middle of a fricking job….. when it will literally take another 30 minutes of work and the whole job is done.

What do you consider an entry level wage?

Ok, if that is true then I presume that the Starbucks employees are paid more?

You are right 3nOut.

Here it is in chart form, with the sized of the boxes NOT correlating to the number of kids but the length of study. Only a minority of kids go to Gymnasium (their college prep high schools).

That's not how they're compensated though. It has little do to with it.

Its how replaceable you are.

Starbucks will agree to it after cutting their labor force by 1/2

1. No one is forcing anyone to work at Starbucks.

There is a Starbucks locally, and there are independent coffee stands. Starbucks pays more per hour, the girls make more at the independent stands due to tips.

These kids don't care about the benefits.
