CEO sounds like a job with a high risk of getting shot. Claim denied.

FTR, I have UnitedHealthcare insurance and have no complaints. It is all relative obviously, but they are way better than BCBS I had before.

Targeted. Probably the result of United having so many damn prior authorizations for providers to fill out (sarcasm). Prayers sent for his loved ones (not sarcasm).

denying people necessary medical care

more like refusing to pay for medical care that the insurance company deems unnecessary and/or not covered by the policy.

Of course, this is fertile ground for disagreement, especially when the policy holder or a loved one believes that the treatment at issue is required.

Capitalism requires a free market. Our healthcare system doesn’t qualify.

I had United for almost 6 years. Paid very little to have them, made up for it on my bills in the mail. They're a joke. Mrs. BTB does insurance contract work and UHC is the worst when it comes to paying bills. They have such a stranglehold on hospitals because they have such a large customer base.

Yes - there is plenty of debate here and there are plenty of unnecessary things ordered and recommended by doctors. The system that was put in place to screen out the minority now harms the majority.

I treat cancer - United is by far the biggest problem out there with denying care and making doctors jump through hoops delaying care that is standard.

When it comes to Medicare advantage, they work in total bad faith and override pre authorizations from actual treating physicians all the time. It’s some bean counter at United who never lays on a patient and says “nah.” They are playing death panel to save a few cents.

Adding additional medical diagnoses to charge the government more is a great way to increase profits. Especially after your lobbyists convinced CMS to stop its plan to crack down on the practice.

its still capitalism, but its called Regulatory Capitalism.

Its the worst of the worse, govt picking winners and losers, creating rules to keep small business down.

With all due respect to your wife, she is full of crap. Hospital financials are actually paid more than enough to make a profit by insurance companies. Insurance companies have literally 0 to do with hospital issues.

It’s Medicare, Medicaid, uninsured, welfare, and immigrants that are the drains on hospitals.

Remove the former and hospitals would be in incredible shape.

So what’s he like?

When I saw the story, I felt bad for the guy. But then I gave it some thought and the CEO for United Health seems like he could be one of the worst humans imaginable.
