I tried that one time. First bunch of kids that came around emptied the bowl.
How could you have possibly not foreseen how this would turn out?

I mean you’re literally asking that to happen.

Left a tray of full size candy bars out along with a huge bucket of smaller candy in bags of 4-5. Went and took kids around the entire neighborhood and the next one over. Came back and still had a dozen candy bars and most of the backup candy. Live in a gated community and only around 30 houses. Same thing every year, very low key holiday for us.

Our dog just can’t take the doorbell that many times, or door knocking.
This year, I got one of those archway style inflatables, put it on the front sidewalk. I put a table underneath it, a little motion sensor clown bowl for the candy, propped up a Bluetooth speaker in the window and played Halloween music.
Our neighborhood has pretty much been killed by trunk or treat BS, but the families that came by got a piece of candy, didn’t steal the whole thing, didn’t steal the clown bowl, were polite and friendly. I thought it worked out great.

My old house had a huge bush right by the porch. I would put a bowl of candy out with a sign to take one or two. Then I would hide in the bush and wait. Most kids would take one or two but then you would have kids walk up and start taking the whole bowl. I would come roaring out of the bush and scare the hell out of those shits. It was hilarious.
Laughing my arse off here. Imagining my 7 year old son getting a little too greedy and that happening to him. I’d probably piss my pants laughing if I saw that in RL.

Left our bowl at the front door while we took our own kids trick or treating as a family.
Left it out when we got back as our youngest is 3 and had to get the kid to bed aka didn’t want knocking and doorbell ringing.
I assumed most of the other unattended bowls in our neighborhood was the same thing as we passed by many many families out trick or treating.
Quit being a count

We finally banned this practice which had frankly become a major problem in the neighborhod.
Damn. Can’t live there. I like to go out before all the kids really get going and take all the candy from the unattended bowls. Then I bring it back and give it out at my house.

It’s so lazy if you ask me. It’s not that big of a deal to take 2 hours out of your evening to pass out candy to children.
That’s another thing that Covid did. It justified this anti social behavior. It’s lazy and ridiculous. Just turn your lights off and don’t pass out any candy you pussies

Do like walmarks self checkout and have a camera with a feed to a monitor on the porch so they see they’re being filmed.

There was a lot of rain in my area last night. I doubt anyone left out candy.

If you aren't home you must tuen off lights and how no accessible candy or giveawys. All displays must be "dark".
Y'all sound like a ton of fun. We put bowls out, go trick or treating with our daughter and when we return, the bowls are empty and stacked.
