The fact that he wins awards is proof that the voters are going out of their way to show they’re not racist.

Rap mindset 101. It’s hard to be a rapper without inappropriate anger/hate because you wouldn’t have any material

Yes. Urban on here and especially on the Poli board is used to distinguish between those that live in cities and compactly inhabited areas versus those in rural and sparsely populated areas.

These two regions generally have distinct value systems, voting patterns, and make starkly different decisions in regards to school, family, God, and any number of things.

Calling the category “people talking over stolen classic rock riffs” was too hard to fit on the trophy.

So what would be the correct label?

You cant just say winner. You cant just say American these days. It has to be "African American" if its a black person. According to blacks.

We are going to need a chart or something so people know what is acceptable and someone to keep it up

Thanks

No. Don't give these mentally ill Filth that type of control.

They already bastardized our language and do everything they can to redefine words and history.

Kinda surprised that this simple statement is getting so many of you riled up. This is a fairly common use of the word "urban", especially on TD.

And I have not called anyone or anything racist

ETA: Oh wait I forgot about this

I feel comfortable saying that this is, in fact, racist

Well, that’s not entirely accurate. There’s one group leftists don’t care about getting equal anything. In fact, they’d prefer they get nothing.

The fact that he can walk around dressed like that and be taken seriously by some shows that black people have been accepted.

Huh? It just means he's assimilated to weird hipster white people fashion.

In other words, he's appropriating millennial culture.

I have started substituting the word 'typical'.

Then you can make your own phrase.

Looks like a "typical (insert word or phrase of your choice here)" won a Grammy and spewed racism all over the stage.

In this case it would be "typical no talent rapper" or something along those lines.

Agree. Also can't stand how the word is used by politicians, bureaucrats and journalists who appoint themselves as spokesmen and defenders of the interests of "urban youth." I was an urban youth, but I know they're not really talking about me when they use urban as a codeword.

As my friend Max said. He had no clue how race isn't an issue in America like he thought, till he traveled abroad. Said European countries are insanely racist towards American Blacks.

Oh, the victimhood. It's just horrible how everyday words are dog whistles.

Okay, let's get real. America is fed up with this "we're the victim" bullshite.

The backlash has already started. Expect it to get worse.

Anyone that thinks racism is solely an American problem is completely naive and out of touch. Racism is everywhere. It’s actually worse in parts of Europe and even Asia. Some of the most elitist/racist people I’ve meet were Asian. Thais are very class oriented. Thais in Bangkok looked down on people from the countryside because they had to work for a living and weren’t socially and economically privileged as the elite in the city. If you’re born into poverty in Thailand it’s damn near impossible to work your way out of it.
