Daughter(no pics) surfing last week and there were bait fish jumping everywhere. Right when she paddled in we saw about a 3 foot black tip shark tearing the bait fish up. The shark came about 10 ft off the shore and the water was only about 2 feet deep. Fwiw you don't have to be far out at all to get bit.

They are abundant along the florida atlantic coast.

I see one every time i'm at the beach near shore. My only concern is bull sharks. And if the water is clear there isn't that much to worry about. People would be amazed at how many sharks are swimming near them close to the beach.

The sharks are riled up because they miss Jim McElwain.

New Smyrna has the highest amount of shark attacks in the world. Like 15% or so of all bites are in that area. The water there isn’t very clear and a couple of other reasons. There was a National Geographic special on why but I couldn’t catch all of it.

When my father and I had a camp at Hollybeach you would see a lot of them late June through the end of August.

Someone told me some BS story how West Gulf sharks travel to Marsh Island, mate, and then turn around to go back West. I think that person was full of it.

I did notice this to be their prime time near the beach. Maybe people notice them more as more people are at the beach this time of year.

Comes down to more people in the water, more baitfish near the shore equals higher chance of shark attacks.

If we're keeping score of kills, I'll wager on the humans over the sharks.

Technology puts us on top, without it were second or third tier.

Meanwhile, an hour later and about 110 miles south at New Smyrna Beach, 49-year-old William Angell was bitten on the right thigh while boogie boarding.

Things may have changed in the 20 years since I've been there but if this beach is like it once was....We've just discovered sharks are attracted to jorts stained with Skol
