Can they even support one?

I mean, really, I find it odd that any city in La besides NOLA has a zoo

the Alexandria zoo is easily the second best zoo in the state

its actually quite awesome

This is ridiculous. Zoo keeper should be fired immediately, and the zoo should be closed indefinitely pending an investigation.

Easy there Mr PETA.

And whoever shite on Alec's zoo is an idiot. They have a really nice zoo for such a small city

Holy crap they are small

Cotton-top tamarin monkeys weighing less than one pound each were left outside at the Alexandria Zoological Park on Jan. 7 when temperatures were as low as 30 degrees in Alexandria, La. that night.

They are very small. You could hold an adult in your hand

A animal that must live in a 68-72 climate left out in 30 degree weather. Why aren't animals like this sent to Florida for the winter? I bet this was a pay back from a worker who was caught monkeying around.

Because their enclosures should have an indoor area that is heated.

I worked at a zoo and coincidentally took care of the tamarins. We had an indoor area with heating lamps that all the tamarins went in when the temps dropped.

I think it was probably an honest mistake, but its a really bad one. I probably spent more time with them than any other animal I took care of. I would have quit also if I walked in and saw two of my guys down.
