and who is supposed to pay them that? Let me guess.

Good for them for getting out. And she should be sentenced to the same amount of time they served

Is just throwing her in jail really enough though? They lost over half their lives so far and 26 years of paychecks. They deserve more than to be let go with a pat on the arse and a "good luck". Make the girl pick up trash off the side of the road 8 hours a day for the rest of her life without any kind of pay, then when she gets back to prison make her work more by doing laundry or cooking so she can at least pay the govt back something (even if we don't give the men a penny, its still her fault we had to pay to house them for 26 yrs)

The statute of limitations needs to be challenged here. Her crime didn't simply happen 26 years ago. Every minute that the conviction stood and her false charge went unrecanted was a continuing crime.

This seems like a good argument, her crimes didnt stop until she admitted she lied.

People on this site can't separate politics from everything else, and they also can't understand that there's more than two sides to an issue. Because you mentioned them being black then therefore you must be a liberal SJW and therefore you must applaud these women because #metoo or something. #TDlogic

lol blame the effect, not the cause.

and look at all the negative posts toward the women. If the roles/races were reversed and white guys were released, your side of the argument would be applauding the victim for getting these guys in prison because "im sure the deserved it".

She should owe them, not the taxpayers. Thats what is so fricked up, these mens lives are ruined and this girl can continue on with hers and has. The only answer I have is, she needs to be punished.

The other guys are just fricked, going to be hard to get a job, prob more likely to commit crimes now than before. Lot of things changed in 26 years.

Who else but the people who's justice system failed them and paid to keep them locked up. The government. I gave you a scenario where its a not a complete drain on the system. Why should the woman have to be the only one to take responsibility when others were complicit?

I highly doubt she has much enough money to do that, that's why I said go ahead and pay them now and let her work til she drops attempting to pay it back. The cost to tge taxpayers wouldn't be much more than a couple of Trumps golf trips, and for a much better cause.

Not everybody gets convicted on just the word alone of one woman and no physical evidence. That's a problem with the courts.

At least in a situation like Cosby when there's dozens of women you know there has to be something to what they're saying.

But do you think if these guys weren't 21 yrs old and poor, and could afford a decent lawyer that they would have seen a day in prison? Hell no, one woman with a lie and nothing to back it up gets thrown out of court all the time. It took more than her lie to get them locked up.

well you really dont know what you are talking about but i would be willing to bet this bitch had a little jungle fever and took a ride on the African Spicket and once people found out she claimed rape. so yes there would be evidence at that point.

but no evidence.....so you claim he shouldnt have been convicted. it was all hearsay.

you serious?

According to The New York Times, she said they punched her so hard her eye swelled, but a doctor who examined found no physical evidence to support her claim and that there were no signs of sexual trauma.

quote:

Semen was found in the woman's underwear, which she said she put back on after the rape, but DNA testing excluded both Perry and Counts as the source. After that result, the woman said she had unprotected sex with her boyfriend the night before and the morning of the attack. Prosecutors argued in court the semen in her underwear belonged to the boyfriend although his DNA was never tested.

quote:

In addition, the car in which the woman said the rape occurred was never searched.

There was no physical evidence linking them to the crime.

There was no physical evidence to support the woman’s claims, and semen recovered didn’t match Perry or Counts. The prosecution leaned heavily on her inconsistent testimony. The defense however argued the woman was unreliable because she was a recovering crack addict and fabricated the story to protect her boyfriend who was wanted by police for shooting Perry two months prior.

quote:

Yet despite the shaky testimony and lack of evidence, both men were convicted. Perry served 11 years while Counts served 26. The third man accused was never arrested. Monday morning, both men walked into a Manhattan courtroom where district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr asked the State Supreme Court judge to vacate their convictions. Counts broke down in tears and said he forgives his accuser.
